The Bullet Train star has been "formally offered the job" as the 007 spy previously played by actor Daniel Craig, per The Sun. Craig left the iconic role in 2021 after starring in five films for over 16 years. "Insiders said the Kick-*ss movie star is expected to accept the role as Agent 007, taking over from Daniel Craig, who has played MI6’s most famous spy for 15 years," the outlet announced.

While the 26th Bond film is not expected to appear on cinema screens until 2025, the pre-production phase has reportedly begun. "We're working out where to go with him, we're talking that through," EON producer Barbara Broccoli told Deadline in 2022.

For years, social media users have fantasized about who will play Bond, from Henry Cavill to Tom Hardy to Idris Elba. So far, EON Productions (the company that makes the Bond films) has not commented on the speculation, but fans are already hyped for Taylor-Johnson to play James Bond.

Has It Been Confirmed?

So, is there any truth to these rumors? Not so fast. A production insider has informed BBC News that there is "no truth in the rumors."

Deadline also spoke out about the speculation, writing, "As a source at EON sagely pointed out to Deadline, if it spent its days reacting to reports about who is replacing Daniel Craig as 007, it would have time for little else."

Taylor-Johnson was asked about the rumor in an interview with Numero Magazine. "I find it charming and wonderful that people see me in that role. I take it as a great compliment," he laughed. At the same time, Eon Productions hasn't flat-out denied the speculations – so all we can do now is wait.
