Everyone loves a good love story. Not only because it warms our heart and is oftentimes entertaining, but because it reminds us that anything is possible in this life, even when you think all hope is lost. There are many celebrity couples that prove how strong and beautiful (and fun) love can be: Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively, Chris Pratt and Katherine Schwarzenegger, Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis. But most of these love stories started like marriages commonly start: You meet your true love in your 20s or early 30s, you fall in love, you get married and have babies.

With the current discourse online, many women are scared to think how they will meet their dream husband once they hit 35 or above. The red pill manosphere keeps telling women that they've pretty much hit the wall by the time they're 30 and they have no chance of meeting a "high-value" man. This leaves many women in their 30s nervous about their future. Perhaps they will be a spinster forever. But the love story of George and Amal Clooney will probably give you a boost of hope.

Amal Clooney Thought She Was Going to Be a "Spinster" Until She Met George Clooney and Fell in Love

In just half a decade, the romantic journey of George Clooney, a well-known Hollywood bachelor, and Amal Clooney (neé Alamuddin), a brilliant humanitarian lawyer, has evolved from a serendipitous meeting to an ideal family narrative, mirroring a Hollywood love story. Their paths crossed in July 2013, at George's Lake Como residence, thanks to a mutual friend. Coincidentally, George's parents were also present, introducing Amal not only to George but to the Clooney family all in one day. Despite George’s previous high-profile relationships, this connection was distinctive. As George recalled in an interview with David Letterman, his agent had presciently mentioned that he was going to marry Amal even before they met.

Their rapport was instantaneous, and they communicated frequently, initially discussing personal updates. Yet, it wasn't long before it was evident their relationship had escalated beyond mere friendship. Their first official outing was in October 2013 at the legendary Abbey Road Studios, where George was overseeing the musical score for his movie The Monuments Men. The date was so memorable that George acknowledged the swift progression of their romance upon his subsequent visit to London.

"That was a good first date," he told The Hollywood Reporter. "And pretty quickly, things escalated once I was in London."

George's proposal in April 2014 was meticulously crafted. While Amal lit candles for a dinner he prepared, she discovered a 7-carat ring concealed inside a lighter box. George recounted, with a touch of humor, the prolonged 20-minute anticipation for her "yes," as she was utterly taken aback. Their wedding in September 2014, almost a year after their inaugural date, was an intimate ceremony in Venice, Italy. The event, initially planned to be private, turned grandiose once the media caught wind. It witnessed attendance from close family and several renowned faces, such as Matt Damon and Emily Blunt.

Becoming a Family of Four

Although children weren't initially in their plans, George's views on fatherhood transformed post-wedding. Reflecting on their fortunate life, they felt it would be self-centered not to share their happiness, even though George said having children "had never been part of my DNA." Much to their astonishment, in 2016, they discovered they were expecting twins. George humorously shared his disbelief during the ultrasound when the second baby was revealed.

"[The doctor performing the ultrasound] goes, 'Well, there's one.' And I said, 'Great.' And then he goes, 'And there's the second one.' And I was like, 'What?'" George said. "We just sat there, staring at that piece of paper they give you, and I kept thinking there was a mistake." In June 2017, Amal gave birth to Ella and Alexander.

The twins' arrival didn't impede the couple's professional commitments. Amal resumed her advocacy for refugees in September 2017, effortlessly balancing motherhood and her demanding job. George, awed by her skills as a mother, expressed his feelings of pride and humility in her presence. Despite the duo's bustling schedule, including George's ventures like the sale of his tequila brand, Casamigos, they prioritize time with their children. Often, this involves family trips to cherished destinations worldwide.

In 2018, Amal paid tribute to her husband during a speech where he was given the 46th AFI Life Achievement Award. She said she was nervous about speaking publicly to honor George, and that even though there were plenty of people that night to talk about his immense talent, she wanted to talk about his character. Amal said George is a gentleman in the true sense, especially to everyone he works with. When he was filming a movie in Montreal, he refused to wear a warm jacket in between takes unless all the other extras were also given the same comfort. It was 40 degrees below zero outside.

"You have character, and you have class," she said, insisting that his "incredible talent and character" got him to where he is today, despite his claim that he has just been lucky.

"I met George when I was 35 and starting to become quite resigned to the idea that I was going to be a spinster," she continued. "Then we met and started hiding out in my London flat, and very soon, it felt like no matter what happened, I would never want to be with anyone else. I couldn't sleep when we're apart." Friends told her she always grinned when she read his text messages or letters he hid in his bag.

"My love, what I have found in you is the great love that I always hoped existed," she said. "And seeing you with our children, Ella and Alexander, is the greatest joy in my life. You fill our home with laughter and happiness."

The speech brought George to tears as he watched Amal speak about their love. Anyone who listened to her speech also felt deeply inspired by her story. She was 35 years old, which is the age that we're told women have hit the wall and are no longer desirable to men. But she waited for the man of her dreams, and he appeared. He was already 50 when they married, and at the time, he was considered an ever-bachelor in Hollywood who would never marry. He was exactly the kind of man the internet said would end up with a 20-year-old virgin because that's what "high-value" men do. But love is a force stronger than most things in this world, and when the stars align and you meet the right man, things click just as they are meant to. They've been married for almost a decade now, and it doesn't seem as though their love will be slowing down anytime soon.
