People are calling for The Daily Beast to get sued for defamation after they ran a misleading story about President Donald Trump and Florida Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna.

The Daily Beast is peddling a sensationalized, misleading take on a completely benign interaction between President Donald Trump and Florida Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna. The article claims Trump made an offhanded joke about his wife, Melania, while offering Luna a place to rest aboard his plane. However, Luna herself has called out the piece—here’s what she had to say about it.

According to The Daily Beast, during a 2023 flight, Trump told Luna, who was pregnant at the time, “If you need a bed to lay down in, there’s one here on the plane. If you feel sick and you need to lay there, you can lay on it. Just don’t tell Melania. She doesn’t like other women on my bed,” he reportedly said. Sounds awful, right? Except Luna herself has made it clear that the interaction was not only innocent but also an act of kindness during a difficult pregnancy.

Luna took to  X (formerly Twitter) to correct the false story. Where are the fact-checkers? "I don’t usually respond to nasty headlines, but with a book allegedly using my name to attack @POTUS, his marriage, and our First Lady—while implying something distasteful about me—I have to speak up. I was very pregnant, experiencing undiagnosed pre-eclampsia symptoms, when @realDonaldTrump kindly offered me the back room on his plane if I felt unwell,” she wrote.

Luna’s post continued, “He did this respectfully in front of my husband, and we both thanked him. He also ensured a medical team was ready and available on board, aware of my condition. Weeks later, I was induced due to pre-eclampsia. President Trump was extremely sensitive and compassionate to both me and my husband, and I’m disgusted the author ignores that. Neither me nor my husband felt disrespected by President Trump in any way. The author never contacted me, so this book is likely a baseless hit piece. Anyone in POTUS’s circle talking to this writer should be cut off. It’s vile."

She even provided a screenshot of a message from Trump checking in on her after the incident: “Anna—how is that baby doing—the plane was ready. Will be a winner like parents!”

The Daily Beast and other left-leaning outlets aren’t interested in the truth. Their goal is to convince the public to turn against Trump. The fact that they framed an act of compassion as something shady says more about them than it does about Trump. Luna herself put it best: “President Trump was extremely sensitive and compassionate to both me and my husband, and I’m disgusted the author ignores that. Neither me nor my husband felt disrespected by President Trump in any way." This isn’t the first time the media has twisted reality to fit their narrative, and it won’t be the last.

People on social media immediately saw through the smear attempt. One user, @Honingbiene, summed it up perfectly: “You need to sue or they will keep up with this crap. Hit them where it hurts and they’ll start learning.” With trust in corporate media at an all-time low, it’s no surprise that many Americans are rejecting these tired hit pieces.
