Artist Depicts What Iconic Women Of The Past Would Look Like Today Due To Current Beauty Standards

Before Botox and lip fillers were a thing, women like Princess Diana and Audrey Hepburn were natural beauties. An artist recreated photos of iconic women of the past to demonstrate how different they would look today if they abided by today's beauty standards.

If you look around at the most famous women today, you can't help but notice that everyone is kind of starting to look the same. Celebrities and socialites have access to the same kind of treatment and cosmetic procedures, and they're all getting the same work done: body contouring, fox eye lift, facelift, lip fillers, breast enhancements, nose jobs, etc. Women like Bella Hadid and Kendall Jenner are nearly unrecognizable compared to photos from just five years ago. It's gotten to the point where aestheticians feel confident enough to drag celebrities online who haven't had cosmetic work done, suggesting what they should do if they want to look better.

Artist Depicts What Iconic Women of the Past Would Look Like Today Due to Current Beauty Standards

An artist named Mat Maitland imagined what some of the most iconic women of the past would probably look like today if they were faced with modern beauty standards. In 2018, he recreated photos of famous women of the past and tinkered with their face to represent what they might have looked like in today's age. We see Audrey Hepburn, Princess Diana, Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor, and Grace Kelly with altered faces, and it's not exactly a pretty sight to see.

Audrey Hepburn was known for her cute features, big curious eyes, and natural eyebrows. In this modern interpretation of the British actress, her lips are enlarged from fillers, her nose is narrowed, her cheeks are protruding from her face, and it seems as though she's had a fox eye lift. She looks manufactured and fake.

The same goes for the rest of the women. Marilyn Monroe sports huge lips that could only be achieved via fillers, Princess Diana's nose is perfectly sculpted, and Elizabeth Taylor's face shape has changed along with significantly enlarged lips. While it may be a bit of shock for us to see these celebrities' appearance edited so clearly, it's likely an accurate representation of what they would look like today if they lived in modern Hollywood where every woman over the age of 18 (and some even younger) has had at least one cosmetic procedure done in her career.

Today it feels impossible to find a celebrity or influencer who sports a natural face (and figure). It's no wonder there are so many young women who feel pressured into getting cosmetic procedures done from a young age. They scroll through Instagram, watch TV, and think that the only way to appear beautiful is to artificially alter their facial features. It's sad to think that this growing obsession with plastic surgery would have completely changed the way we see iconic women like Princess Diana and Elizabeth Taylor. These women were known for their natural beauty, but today they may not have even been looked at twice unless their faces were perfected by modern beauty standards.
