Australia Introduces New "Ambassador For Gender Equality" And The Internet Can't Stop Talking About Her Physiognomy
The obsession with so-called gender equality grows in Western countries and Australia just introduced their new Ambassador for Gender Equality, Stephanie Copus Campbell. But people are having a tough time looking past her physiognomy.
The word "equality" has been the focus of many social movements over the last several years. Western countries like the United States, the UK, and Australia have seen various protests and social media campaigns that claim to be fighting for women's equality, equality for minorities, equality for trans people, racial justice, etc. With this rise comes new government officials that are supposedly meant to progress these movements and help citizens achieve a new level of equality. Australia released a video introducing its newest Ambassador for Gender Equality: Stephanie Copus Campbell.
Australia Introduces New "Ambassador for Gender Equality" and the Internet Can't Stop Talking About Her Physiognomy
In a viral video shared across Twitter, Stephanie talks about what she plans to do in her new role of Ambassador for Gender Equality. "I'm incredibly honored to take on this role as the lead international advocate for Australia's commitment to gender equality and the human rights of women and girls and persons of diverse gender identities," she says. "In this role I am committed to listening those who are dedicated to promoting gender equality and learning about the perspectives and priorities of communities and countries in our region and globally."
"Promoting gender equality is the right thing to do but it's also the smart thing to do. It is central to Australia's diplomatic, economic development and regional security as well as our international engagement."
She's wearing a light pink sweater and sitting in front of a blue background with the Australia flag on the left. She is reading from a teleprompter and claims that her goal is to make partnerships that will help her "progress the Australian government's priorities to increase women's economic impact and empowerment, women and girls' leadership and to end gender and sexual-based violence, to improve access to health and education services and progress the women peace and security agenda."
Stephanie reportedly grew up in Alaska and moved to Australia when she was 25 years old to take a job with the Australian Red Cross. She has spent 25 years working in Pacific Island Papua New Guinea and she has a background in development and health. She even worked for the Papua New Guinea government as Chair of the Southern Highlands Provincial Health Authority. Stephanie has spoken up previously about sexual harassment, sharing a personal experience of how she has lost jobs because she has refused sexual advances from men.
Regardless of her background, the internet can't help but notice Stephanie's physiognomy. Many people point out that she barely blinked at all during the video and showed zero emotion. "I actually got chills. Terrifying eyes. Transhuman vibes," @littleapostate wrote on Twitter.
Many people responded and said she looks like some kind of AI creation, or worse, a lizard person. "when your mouth works, but the rest of your face is on strike," someone responded. "It reminds me of a hostage video scene in a movie, where they’re trying to communicate something with their eyes even though they’re reading from a script. Or she got bad Botox," someone else wrote.
Some users pointed out that her eyes made her look like a crazy person or at the very least, "creepy." Others wondered aloud whether she is a woman at all, although there is no evidence yet to support the belief that she is a biological male.
"Australia’s newly appointed Gender Equality Ambassador, Stephanie Copus Campbell, is Chief of the Defence Force, Angus Campbell’s wife. Her video introduction, and those eyes, made my skin crawl. This is an abuse of taxpayer money, if ever I saw it," @fifimurray2 wrote.
Some claimed that she has a "demonic quality" about her, especially her eyes and the fact that she never blinks. Whatever the case may be about her appearance, many people raised reasonable concerns about the fact that taxpayer dollars are going to something as trivial and useless as an Ambassador for Gender Equality, particularly in a Western country where women and men already have equal rights. Is this really necessary when there are so many other pressing matters affecting Western societies?
