Bill Cosby Found Guilty For Sexually Assaulting A 16-Year-Old Girl At The Playboy Mansion In 1975
Last year comedian Bill Cosby was released from prison and his criminal rape conviction was overturned by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court. He was accused of drugging and sexually assaulting over 60 women and his case became a groundbreaking moment for the #MeToo movement.
But Cosby isn't off the hook yet. He is still dealing with sexual assault allegations from decades ago, and a jury just ruled in favor of one of his victims.
Bill Cosby Found Guilty for Sexually Assaulting a 16-Year-Old Girl at the Playboy Mansion in 1975
Judy Huth, 64, was only 16 years old in 1975 when she was sexually assaulted by Cosby. She gave a testimony that he invited her and her friend to a tennis club, gave them drinks, and took them to the Playboy Mansion. He also instructed them to say they were 19 years old if anyone asked. He later forced her to hold his penis while he masturbated. “I had my eyes closed at that point,” Huth told the LA Times. “I was freaking out.”
The Los Angeles County Superior Court ruled in favor of Huth on seven out of nine counts. They found that Cosby didn't "actually and reasonably believe" that she was of the legal age at the time of their encounter. The jury clearly said that his behavior was "motivated by an unnatural or abnormal sexual interest" in a minor. The court awarded $500,000 to Huth for emotional distress.
This is the first civil case to go to trial since Cosby's rape conviction was overturned last year. Huth said she felt "vindicated" and that this is a "big, big step forward for all the victims out there."
"It's about time he has paid for what he has done to so many women," she said.
