Bill Maher, 68, is slammed after asking 21-year-old "Hawk Tuah girl" Hailey Welch if she would like to start a sex podcast on his network.

Hailey Welch became an internet sensation after she was featured in a man-on-the-street interview with creators Tim & Dee TV.

In the viral moment, she was asked, “What’s one move in bed that makes a man go crazy every time?”

It was her answer that earned her the new nickname. Welch, who appeared drunk, responded, “You gotta give ’em that ‘hawk tuah’ and spit on that thang!”

Welch made headlines, memes ran amok, and people started getting tattoos of the "hawk tuah" moment. She received support from Shaquille O'Neal and was welcomed on stage at a Zach Bryan concert. Her first live appearance was at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, where she allegedly earned $20,000, and her management team announced that there are "endless opportunities" for Welch.

More recently, the 21-year-old appeared on an awkward episode of Club Random with Bill Maher. Maher stunned Welch when he gave her a rather interesting proposition on his network. He suggests she start a podcast in which she gives sex advice. "You need to do a podcast. You do it right here on Club Random if you do it my way. Sex expert," Maher said.

He went on to say that Welch was given the "chip of fame" and that being the Hawk Tuah girl is what she's known for. Maher asked, "You have to take it seriously. Could you do that?"

"Possibly," Welch said.

Maher explained that there "are serious issues" to be discussed in the realm of sex and surmised that Welch learned about spitting from porn, adding that porn has negatively impacted the minds of the younger generation. That I don't disagree with. "And porn is not benign. It is not," the comedian said. "And it has warped the minds of the kids in your generation, especially the guys."

"Yeah, they're coming for some sick sh*t," Welch admitted.

Maher is now facing backlash on social media over his comments. "THIS IS F*CKIN CREEPY," wrote comedian Chrissy Mayr. "68 year old Bill Maher wants 21 year old Haliey Welch (Hawk Tuah) to start a SEX PODCAST ON HIS NETWORK. She is so uncomfortable and nervously laughing the whole time. The entire interview comes off predatory and grooming. No 21 year old can be a sex expert."

At the same time, a lot of people are arguing that Welch is grown and we don't need to victimize her. "I'm not sure I agree. She's 21. She's an adult now. And he brings up a great point about where she actually learned that idea from... Porn," commented @Nina7Infinity. "And doing a podcast where you talk about the negative effects of porn on the psyche and serious issues concerning sex, is not a terrible idea."

This is not the first time the Politically Incorrect host has fueled outrage over his sex comments. In 2017, Maher came under fire for his old comments condoning statutory rape between an adult woman and a minor. He defended the relationship between 35-year-old teacher Mary Kay Letourneau and her 12-year-old male student in a 2007 interview, saying, "I think it’s a little offbeat, but you know, I believe in the double standard. If a 28-year-old male teacher is screwing a 13-year-old girl, that’s a crime. But with Debra Lafave [another teacher who had sex with a student] screwing her 14-year-old boy student, the crime is that we didn’t get it on videotape. Was he being taken advantage of? I wish I had been taken advantage of like that. What a memory she gave him!"

Going back to the weird sex podcast talk, Welch deterred the conversation by reminding Maher of his old age. “How old are you?” she asked him.

"68," Maher said.

Welch took on the role of Cupid and attempted to set Maher up with her grandmother. “How do you feel about an 80-year-old woman?” Welch asked him, smiling. The 12-year age gap between Maher and her grandmother is dwarfed by the significant 47 year difference between the comedian and herself.

Maher said, “If only you knew the first thing about me.”

“I’m not going to call you PawPaw,” Welch joked. “I might call you Grandpappy.”
