Catch The First Glimpse Of Margot Robbie As Barbie In Greta Gerwig's Upcoming Film
Nostalgia is one of the most popular trends in TV and film today. We're mostly seeing reboots of old classics, such as "Ghostbusters" or "Cheaper by the Dozen."
One particular piece of nostalgia being released next year has caught the attention of women everywhere: Greta Gerwig's 2023 movie called Barbie. Margot Robbie is set to produce and star as the Malibu princess. There hasn't been a lot of information released about the upcoming film, but Robbie did hint that Barbie "comes with a lot of baggage…and a lot of nostalgic connections" in an interview with British Vogue.
The First Glimpse of Margot Robbie As Barbie Was Just Released
We may not know much about the movie, but the first teaser photo tells us that Robbie is certainly the right choice for the role. She stuns in a striped blue halter dress, a blue polka dot headband, and bombshell blonde hair styled with 1960s vibes. She's sitting in the driver's seat of a pink convertible with a pink background – it's a pink explosion!
Robbie will star alongside a star-studded cast that includes Ryan Gosling, Kate McKinnon, America Ferrera, Will Ferrell, and Issa Rae. The script is written by both Gerwig and her partner Noah Baumbach. Before Robbie was cast as Barbie, there was talk of either selecting Anne Hathaway or Amy Schumer for the lead role. Schumer allegedly pulled out due to creative differences.
But don't expect this movie to be standard. "People generally hear ‘Barbie’ and think, ‘I know what that movie is going to be,’ and then they hear that Greta Gerwig is writing and directing it, and they’re like, ‘Oh, well, maybe I don’t,'" Robbie said. Let's just hope they don't ruin the story of the classic doll that most of us grew up on.
