Cats Found Mutilated And Sliced In Half In Houston, Texas
“For this to happen three times in two weeks when we haven't seen anything like this in 30 years, I find it hard to believe that that's just a random animal attack," a Houston resident said.
The topic of Haitian voodoo has taken X/Twitter by storm just days after residents from Springfield, Ohio, reported seeing Haitian immigrants eating animals not intended for consumption.
Donald Trump and J.D. Vance have even touched on Haitian immigrants supposedly eating people's cats and dogs. While many have come forward to state that Haitians do indeed practice animal sacrifices in their country, Houston, Texas, is facing its own deeply troubling situation with a series of gruesome cat mutilations that have shocked the community.
Houston news station KPRC-TV reported that the incident began two weeks ago and has since escalated into a disturbing situation that has residents demanding answers. Several cats have been found brutally mutilated in Houston’s East End neighborhood. Jackson Hime, a resident, described the horrific scene that unfolded. “My mom was out walking her dog, and she passed by and saw that a black cat was severed in half," he tells the reporter. Other cats were found with their paws cleanly chopped off. "But we have not found any blood around any of the bodies that we've picked up, and also all their internal organs are still around.”
The investigation reveals that these cats were part of a community colony, per KPRC-TV, with the first death reported two weeks ago. The second victim was reportedly a calico named Stella, who was found mutilated this past Sunday. A third cat was reported on Wednesday. The frequency and brutality of these incidents have prompted concern from the community.
Hime remarked, “For this to happen three times in two weeks when we haven't seen anything like this in 30 years, I find it hard to believe that that's just a random animal attack.”
Houston residents near Park Drive have expressed their concerns, leading to at least three reports filed with Houston police. Meanwhile, animal cruelty detectives have stated that there is not enough evidence to determine whether the crimes were committed by an animal or a person.
While the news station was interviewing Hime, Houston's Bark Team arrived to collect the remains of the latest victim for necropsy. The body had been left out for a full day before being retrieved, despite residents' repeated calls to 911. “We don’t have any evidence right now that points to this being human-caused and currently are aligned with the SPCA in suspecting wildlife as the cause, specifically coyotes," their spokesperson said.
Hime added, “We talked to the officers yesterday, and as you can see, the body is still out here being eaten.”
X users are convinced that the mutilated animals are a result of immigration. Houston SPCA suggests that an animal attack is behind the killings. “Earlier this week, a Houston SPCA Animal Cruelty Investigator responded to the East End after a cruelty report was filed with the animal rescue organization that two deceased cats were dismembered," they said in a statement. "After an initial investigation, it is believed this was caused by an animal attack, possibly coyotes, as the area where the incident occurred has a very high population of feral cats."
