A 31-year-old woman from Colorado has avoided jail time despite committing statutory rape on a 13-year-old boy, according to reports. The Fountain Police Department charged Andrea Serrano with sexual assault on a child by one in a position of trust and sexual assault on a child. As stated by Serrano's arrest affidavit, the boy had viewed her as a "mother figure."
Serrano admitted to having sex with the minor in 2022 and was placed in custody on a $70,000 bond. She allegedly became pregnant from the assault and has given birth to the victim's baby. Serrano's lawyers came to a plea deal – as reported by 11 News, the perpetrator will now have to register as a sex offender. The judge may sentence her to 10 years to life on Sex Offender Intensive Supervised Probation (SOISP).
The victim's mother broke her silence on the plea deal, telling 11 News, "I feel like my son is robbed of his childhood. Now he’s having to be a father. He’s a victim, and he’s going to have to live with that for the rest of his life."
She added, "I feel like if she was a man and he was a little girl, it would definitely be different. They would be seeking more. I feel like because he is not a woman, they are not. They are having compassion for her."
