Courtney Stodden Says Chrissy Teigen’s Bullying Nearly Drove Her To Suicide
On top of tweeting really weird things about children, Chrissy Teigen also nearly drove Courtney Stodden to suicide.

Courtney Stodden, a media personality who rose to fame after marrying a 50-year-old at 16, is speaking out about the cyberbullying she endured from Chrissy Teigen and other celebrities. According to Stodden, the verbal abuse nearly drove her to suicide.
In the upcoming ABC News documentary IMPACT x Nightline: Confessions of a Child Bride, Stodden opens up about the harassment she faced as a teenager. Stodden was only a minor when she was thrown into the public eye after marrying 50-year-old actor Doug Hutchison, and Chrissy Teigen attacked her at the time. She would allegedly send private DMs to Stodden, telling her to kill herself.
According to TMZ, Stodden specifically called out Teigen for posting cruel messages about her. Teigen allegedly wrote multiple tweets expressing her hatred for Stodden and even said her “fantasy” was for them to take a “dirt nap.” Why would an adult wish death on a teenager?
Stodden revealed she actually wrote a suicide note during that time, believing that if someone as powerful and popular as Teigen thought she should die, maybe she really should.
Chrissy’s History of Online Harassment and Weird Tweets
While Teigen was once celebrated for her snarky online persona, it turns out a lot of that so-called “wit” was just her "bullying" others online, often at much younger and more vulnerable people. She was called out for sexualizing children in her tweets before deactivating her profile on X.
Once, she wrote about Quvenzhané Wallis, who was just nine years old when she became the youngest-ever Best Actress nominee at the Oscars. Teigen tweeted, “Is it okay to call a small child cocky?” and later doubled down with, “I am forced to like Quvenzhané Wallis because she’s a child right? Okay fine.”
Michael Costello, the Project Runway designer, also claimed Teigen bullied him to the point of suicidal ideation. In a 2021 Instagram post, Costello alleged that Teigen falsely accused him of racism based on a doctored screenshot and then used her industry influence to blacklist him. Costello even shared alleged DMs from Teigen telling him his career was over.
After Stodden originally exposed Teigen’s behavior in 2021, the model-turned-cookbook-author took to Medium to issue an apology, writing, “Not a day, not a single moment has passed where I haven’t felt the crushing weight of regret for the things I’ve said in the past.” She admitted to being an “insecure, attention-seeking troll” who thought being cruel would make her seem relatable. But as heartfelt as she tried to sound, it didn’t do much to mend her reputation—especially since Stodden later revealed that, despite Teigen claiming she reached out privately to apologize, she never actually did.
To this day, Teigen still has a major platform, a successful business, and a dedicated fanbase willing to overlook her past behavior.
