From her breakthrough role in Disney's Camp Rock to her chart-topping music career, Demi Lovato has always been a force in the entertainment world. Known for her dynamic vocal range and powerful performances, Lovato has captured the hearts of millions worldwide with hits like "Skyscraper" and "Sorry Not Sorry." Success, however, hasn't come without struggles. The Grammy-nominated singer has openly shared her battles with addiction, mental health, and eating disorders. In 2010, Lovato entered a rehabilitation facility for the first time, marking the beginning of a very public journey toward recovery and self-love.

After her first stint in rehab, Lovato became a fierce advocate for mental health awareness, sharing her experiences with bipolar disorder and advocating for others to seek help. She returned to the spotlight, releasing successful albums and continuing her acting career. Throughout everything, Lovato has made it clear that she has a strong opinion on most political issues, especially abortion. She calls herself an advocate for women's "reproductive rights," and she has voiced her support for organizations like Planned Parenthood. In 2019, amid widespread debate over restrictive abortion laws in several U.S. states, Lovato made a statement on Instagram, saying, "I am not a woman. I am an adult human being in need of healthcare. It is MY right to seek medical help when I am bleeding, in pain, or when a pregnancy could risk my life." The post has since been deleted.

She also criticized the restrictive abortion laws, asserting that they disproportionately affect low-income women who cannot afford travel or healthcare. Lovato's post emphasized her belief that every woman should have access to abortion. Furthermore, Lovato has used her music as a platform to express her activism. In 2020, she released the politically charged song "Commander in Chief," criticizing then-President Donald Trump's leadership and expressing solidarity with marginalized communities. While the song doesn't explicitly discuss abortion rights, its message challenges authority and rejects conservative political leadership. In yet another single released on June 22, the one-year anniversary of Roe v. Wade being overturned, she sings about abortion rights.

Demi Lovato's New Song Is All About Abortion

She wanted to make a big statement about abortion, and that's exactly what Lovato did. The lyrics to "Swine" are graphic throughout the song, kicking off with "God forbid, I wanna suck whatever the f*ck I wanna / God forbid, I wanna f*ck whoever the f*ck I want / And if he c*ms, I guess I gotta be a mother / F*ck what I think, I don't know a thing / The government knows my body." The song is heavy, fast-paced, and full of rage. "My life, my voice / My rights, my choice," she sings in the chorus. "It's mine, or I'm just swine."

In the second verse, Lovato sings about the Holy Bible and urges Christians to consider how they might feel if their religious book were suddenly banned. "Do you understand? Now doesn't that sound entitled?" she sings. "It's your book, but it's my survival." Lovato has been making many religious references in her music lately, but this one may be the most nonsensical. The First Amendment in the United States Constitution makes it very clear that the government shall make no law infringing on citizens' freedom of religion. But there is nothing in this document that claims women have the "right" to end the life of their children in the womb.

"Give these motherf*ckers hell," she sings. "Under-compensated, too domesticated / Underestimated, over-regulated / Under-celebrated, hate-dominated / We're infuriated, got us activated / Ever-dedicated, newly-motivated."

In the music video, she is dressed in red and black garb, singing angrily at a small group of old, white men wearing black robes, who are meant to represent the Supreme Court justices that overturned Roe v. Wade. It's clear that she's sending a message saying that men shouldn't have control over women's bodies; this is ironic, considering the fact that it was also all old, white men who passed Roe v. Wade in 1973. She is surrounded by young women and men in the video, all of whom are dressed in grunge with heavy eyeliner and are screaming angrily at the camera.

"It's been one year since the Supreme Court's decision to dismantle the constitutional right to a safe abortion, and although the path forward will be challenging, we must continue to be united in our fight for reproductive justice," Lovato said in a press release. "I created ‘SWINE’ to amplify the voices of those who advocate for choice and bodily autonomy." All profits from "Swine" will be donated to the Reproductive Justice Fund at the Demi Lovato Foundation. The funds will be given to non-profit organizations that are pro-abortion.

Demi Lovato Is Spreading Propaganda About Abortion

Lovato makes it sound like the overturning of Roe v. Wade has made women less safe and have less bodily autonomy. This is just pro-abortion propaganda, though, that is perpetuated by celebrities, Hollywood, and even major corporations. In Lovato's latest song, she implies that women have no rights at all if they don't have access to abortion and that they have no choice over their own body. This is simply untrue. Just because you can't kill your baby in your womb doesn't mean you don't have bodily autonomy. Your bodily autonomy is forfeited when your actions harm or kill another human being, regardless of that person's location, size, age, gender, etc.

Lovato and many other activists like her also conveniently leave out the fact that women have full control over their bodies and the actions that lead up to pregnancy. Nobody is forcing women to have sex or even forcing them not to responsibly use contraception if they are not ready to have a baby. Women have full control over their bodies, who they have sex with, and whether they have sex in their fertile window. It's infantilizing and insulting to claim that women aren't capable of taking care of their bodies and preventing pregnancy in safe ways.

Lovato also makes it seem like women won't be able to receive medical care if they're pregnant and in need: "Even if I'm dying, they'll still try to stop me." This is a gross misrepresentation—and a flat-out lie. If a woman's life is in danger, there is nothing about the overturning of Roe v. Wade that will stop her from receiving life-saving medical care. That life-saving medical care may result in an early delivery of the child (sadly, that may result in the child's death), but there is never a situation where strict abortion laws will stop a woman from getting the care she needs at a hospital when she is pregnant. Intentionally ending the life of a child in the womb because you simply don't want to be a mom is not the same as a pregnant woman receiving the medical care she desperately needs. Either Lovato knows this and is just peddling a fake narrative for clicks and views, or she is ignorant on this matter. Not sure which one is worse.

When it comes to pregnancy, there is never a medical reason to intentionally end the life of an innocent child. If there is a mother with many risks during her pregnancy, she may need to deliver her child early, but this does not equal the intentional and direct killing of the child. If a pregnant woman has a miscarriage, she may need a medical procedure, such as a D&C, but that is not the same as directly killing the child. That's why Roe v. Wade being overturned doesn't affect pregnant women and their medical care whatsoever.

There is also some confusion about ectopic pregnancies. Many women believe that abortion is necessary for an ectopic pregnancy, but the CDC identifies that abortion is only a procedure for intrauterine pregnancies. An ectopic pregnancy occurs when a fertilized egg implants outside the uterus, most commonly in the fallopian tubes. This condition can cause severe pain and potentially life-threatening complications for the mother. An ectopic pregnancy cannot proceed normally; the embryo cannot survive, and growing tissue may cause damage to the mother. Treatment involves medication or surgery to remove the ectopic tissue. Methotrexate, a medication, can be administered if the ectopic pregnancy is detected early. In more advanced cases, laparoscopic surgery may be necessary to remove the ectopic pregnancy and repair any tissue damage. But even public health organizations declare that abortion is not the treatment for an ectopic pregnancy, and every bill that is passed with strict abortion laws clearly denotes that ectopic pregnancy doesn't have any relation to abortion.

At the end of the day, abortion has nothing to do with choice or bodily autonomy. It's about ending the life of an innocent child, and there is nothing about that that is empowering or liberating for women. When Lovato shared a clip of her music video on her Instagram, hundreds of comments indicated that people were disgusted and disappointed by her attempt to stay relevant in the political landscape.

"Your lyrics are actually very anti feminist. We women are very capable of growing them, raising them, feeding them, finishing our degrees, being a boss of own business, and still pursuing our dreams. That’s what makes us unique and powerful. Saying we can’t is cutting women short and reducing us of our potential," one person wrote.

"You are dressed like Satan because what you’re doing and promoting is evil and satanic. God have mercy on you and all the poor souls who are following you," another person wrote.

"You don't even know what gender you are, and you're talking about woman rights? What a joke... killing babies isn't constitutional or just morally acceptable so yes you are swine to be upset you can't kill a baby. It's not your body, it's not your choice, and it's definitely not a right," another said.

People are getting fed up with Lovato's antics, and they're making it clear that her pro-abortion stance is getting tired. The more truth we spread about abortion, the more people will realize that this is not an issue about bodily autonomy or choice. It's an anti-woman agenda that only brings destruction and despair.
