EA Confirms "The Sims" Movie Produced By Margot Robbie
Margot Robbie's production company LuckyChap is working on a new Sims movie, and we couldn't be more excited.

The Sims video game and Margot Robbie are both icons in their own right, and now they're teaming up to deliver another blockbuster hit following the ultra success of Barbie.
We first heard the exciting news in March, but Electronic Arts (EA) has only recently confirmed that the film adaptation is officially in the works.
On Tuesday, the video game maker revealed the future of The Sims franchise, perVariety. Kate Herron, known for her work on Loki, will direct the film and co-write the screenplay with Briony Redman.
“Teaming up with renowned Hollywood powerhouses, this exciting new chapter for The Sims will bring its magic to millions more fans,” EA Entertainment president Laura Miele announced. “It’s a testament to the enduring power of this beloved franchise, which has captivated more than 500 million players for a quarter of a century. Our commitment to innovate across The Sims universe of experiences and products will inspire all generations of Simmers.”
For many women like me, Barbie and The Sims evoke nostalgia and creativity. Just as Barbie allowed us to play dress-up and play make-believe, The Sims allows us to build and shape our worlds. This format’s impact is clear; Barbie grossed an impressive $1.446 billion at the box office. The question is, can Robbie deliver again, this time with Herron?
So, what can we expect from the upcoming Sims movie? “What I will tell you is it’s very much rooted in The Sims universe,” Kate Gorman, EA’s vice president and general manager of the popular franchise, told Variety. “And what we want is to have a truly authentic Sims experience brought to a theatrical release. So what you’ll see from us is that we have been wanting to get this right."
"We wanted the right partners and to make an impact the size of something like a Barbie movie is exactly what we want. And we know there’s so much love and nostalgia, probably beyond what we would even realize, for The Sims and so many people like us have played throughout generations," she added. "So we want this to be an experience that reflects all that amazing history and play of so many people in this world, but also is something that you can share across generations and to be part of pop culture and culturally relevant.”
