The Oppenheimer actress dropped a bomb.

Emily Blunt is facing backlash from internet users after a resurfaced clip from The Jonathon Ross Show went viral on X (formerly Twitter). When recalling an awkward moment with a waitress, Blunt made a joke about her size. "So we went out for dinner, at this point, at Chili's; I think it was the only restaurant available," she said.

The host responds by noting how big the portions were at the chain restaurant, suggesting that it contributed to the weight gain in Americans. "When you go to Chili's, you can see why so many of our American friends are enormous," Ross said, remembering when he ordered a large meal.

"Well, the girl who was serving me was enormous," Blunt said. "You know, I think she got freebie meals at Chili's." The star's comment has social media users reeling.

"that comment was so unnecessary wtf????" writes @oasisraindrops. "why are people so OBSESSED with other people's weight."

"Imagine being that waitress and seeing this," says @juleesssy.

"Enormous is a hugely disrespectful word in this context," comments @MsAnjaliB. "Emily Blunt should apologise."

"Emily Blunt being blatantly fatphobic wasn’t on my 2023 bingo card but here we are," tweets @justmarahere.

There's no doubt America has an obesity epidemic – yet Blunt did not need to joke about a woman's size on television for millions of people to witness. Then again, I don't think pitchforks aren't necessary. It's clear she was trying to be funny and was riffing off the host's comment on enormous portions. Perhaps next time, she'll be more careful about what she says in public and will think twice about being, well, blunt.
