Ethan Slater's Wife Claims Ariana Grande Is "Not A Girl's Girl," But People Aren't Surprised

Looks like Miss Ponytail is in big trouble. Fans were stunned to hear last week that Ariana Grande and Dalton Gomez were "heading for divorce" after they experienced a "rough patch." Shortly after this announcement, TMZ revealed that the "7 Rings" singer is now dating her Wicked co-star, Ethan Slater.

But fans quickly noted a major problem: Ethan Slater is married to Lilly Jay – and they just had a baby not that long ago. TMZ claims the SpongeBob Squarepants Broadway star and Grande began their relationship while they were single. "Ariana and Ethan recently started dating. They have a lot in common and have a lot of fun," an insider confirmed to ET. "They didn't start dating until both were broken up with their significant others. Ariana and Dalton remain friends."

However, Slater dedicated a Mother's Day post to his wife two months ago. Which begs the question, when did Slater and Grande actually start dating? Unfortunately, we may never get the entire truth about this rumored relationship, but it seems Lilly Jay has a few words to say.

On July 22, a close source to Jay informed ET that the new mom was "devastated" by the news about Slater and Grande. This is understandable, considering the couple was married for four years and were together for a total of 10. They welcomed their baby, Ezra, in November 2022.

The source said that "this is not the future she [Jay] had in mind" and "She's doing her best to get back on her feet. She's incredibly smart and driven." They added that Jay "is truly the best mother."

Now, PageSix is saying that Jay has officially broken her silence. “[Ariana’s] the story really. Not a girl’s girl,” she said. “My family is just collateral damage.” However, sources are apparently telling the news site that Jay has been "calling every news outlet to get this story out" while behaving differently toward Slater, whatever that means.

“She’s telling Ethan and others that she only cares about protecting their child,” the source claimed. “She’s rightfully upset because her marriage fell apart, but Ariana and Ethan didn’t do anything wrong." That same insider added that Slater began romancing the singer two months after he separated from his wife.

On Wednesday, Slater filed for divorce in a New York court. However, a different source said that Jay was "completely blindsided" by Grande and Slater's rumored budding romance. “It’s horrible. They were high school sweethearts. They have a baby! She’s a wreck,” they told Page Six. The source believes that Grande is the reason they “suddenly break up now when nothing appeared wrong between them."

Interesting how these sources are contradicting each other. Usually, when stories don't add up, it typically means that somebody is lying...the question is, who? There's a chance we'll never know, but social media users are already speculating that infidelity was involved.
