Evangeline Lilly Speaks Out Against Vaccine Mandates: "This Is Not Healthy"
"Lost" star Evangeline Lilly has officially spoken out against COVID-19 vaccine mandates. She posted a few photos on her Instagram page and shared that she attended the Washington, D.C. rally this past weekend “to support bodily sovereignty.”
Over the last couple years it has been rare to see celebrities who take a hard stance on vaccine mandates. Most of them are silent or they are in favor of the mandates. The Antman star Evangeline Lilly has something different to say, though.
Evangeline Lilly Does Not Support Vaccine Mandates
To accompany her black-and-white photos, Evangeline clearly stated that she does not support the COVID vaccine mandates. She told her followers that she went to DC to “support bodily sovereignty while Canadian truckers were rallying for their cross-country, peaceful convoy in support of the same thing.”
“I believe nobody should ever be forced to inject their body with anything, against their will, under threat of violent attack…” she wrote in the caption, adding that many people are also being threatened to take the vaccine under threat of “loss of employment, arrest or detention without trial, loss of education, alienation from loved ones.”
Evangeline urged her followers to realize that mandates are not the right choice from a policy perspective. “This is not the way. This is not safe. This is not healthy. This is not love,” she wrote. “I understand the world is in fear, but I don’t believe that answering fear with force will fix our problems.”
Evangeline Lilly Proudly Calls Herself Pro-Choice
She concluded her post by stating, “I was pro choice before COVID and I am still pro choice today.” She used the hashtags #medicalchoice and #medicalfreedom, making it known that she supports the Canadian truckers for standing up against the mandates.
This is certainly a different turn than what we’ve seen from most celebrities. The responses in her post have been mixed; some show support while others announce that they are unfollowing her. How many celebrities actually agree with her is not something we’ll likely know anytime soon, as this is not a popular opinion amongst the Hollywood crowd.
