Everything We Know About “The Bachelor” Joey Graziadei
Joey Graziadei might be the most popular “Bachelor” lead in years, and it’s not hard to see why.
His biography on the official Bachelor Nation website is full of green flags. It highlights his “loyalty, thoughtfulness, and compassion for others,” as well as his “family values” and “desire to find lasting love.” While a love of adventure and outdoor activities is important, Joey also wants a “caring” partner. In turn, “he has much more love to give, and the only thing missing is someone with whom to share his life.”
We’re not the only ones crushing on 28-year-old Joey – 32 women (more than any other season of The Bachelor) are set to compete for his heart. His season’s trailer promises lots of romance, laughter, and drama, and ends with “an unprecedented shocking first.” Judging by the many dramatic ways this show has ended (*cough* never forget Clayton’s season finale), this could mean anything, but we’re already hooked.
So, what makes Joey the most eligible Bachelor (aside from his handsome looks, of course)?
Joey’s Life before The Bachelor Franchise
According to his LinkedIn profile, Joey majored in communications and media studies at West Chester University of Pennsylvania, where he was also a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity and Division II Men’s Tennis team. After college, he worked in both marketing and sales in various companies across Tennessee before moving to Hawaii in 2022 to become a teaching tennis professional and brand ambassador.
His Instagram is full of pictures of him having fun outdoors, but it has even more pictures of him with his family. On The Bachelorette, he was open about the fact that despite his parents being divorced, he still believes in true love and being with one person for the rest of his life. He said, “My parents split when I was pretty young. I wouldn’t say it was easy. But my family is just an extremely loving family. And both my parents were amazing co-parents, so the fact that that didn’t work out doesn’t take away from romance for me.”
Aside from being close to both of his parents, he’s also close to his two sisters, Carly and Eleanor. Carly’s Instagram is also full of pictures with her family, while Eleanor’s page is private. We consider any guy who is this close to his parents to be a green flag, and it’s a bonus that he’s close to his sisters as well – men with sisters tend to understand women better.
Joey’s Time on The Bachelorette
Joey was the runner-up on Charity Lawson’s season of The Bachelorette and quickly became a fan favorite. Not only is he super handsome, but he’s a gentleman, family-oriented, and *gasps* is interested in finding a wife. It was impossible not to root for his relationship with Charity as he continually showed her that he would make a great husband by being loyal, kind, and romantic, but she got engaged to Dotun Olubeko during the season finale.
While discussing their breakup after the season finale aired, Charity told People, “Seeing Joey was not easy, and saying goodbye was really hard for me. Throughout this whole journey, for me, saying goodbye to anyone was not an easy thing to do, but especially at that point when you have formed some connection, that was difficult for me. I don’t want to be the person that has to contribute to someone else’s pain, but it was necessary.”
Despite their past, she and Dotun are rooting for him to find love on The Bachelor: “We wish him nothing but the best. We saw how much of a lover boy Joey is and how much he wants his person. I do believe that he is going to have no problem finding that. He is an incredible person. We’re both rooting for him and rooting for his success.”
For Joey, seeing Charity and Dotun happy together not only provided him with closure, but showed him exactly what he wants out of a relationship. He said that seeing them together “opened up a part of me that wanted something so bad.” He says he wants “someone that challenges me. I want someone that I can challenge. I just want someone to do life with. I just want someone that's going to be my person."
Why Fans Are Excited for Joey’s Season
What’s refreshing about Joey is that he genuinely seems to want to find a wife, which is why fans haven’t been this excited about a Bachelor lead since Sean Lowe in 2013 and Ben Higgins in 2016. I think this says a lot about both Joey and the franchise as a whole. It’s no secret that The Bachelor franchise isn’t nearly as popular as it used to be due to declining ratings. The first season of The Golden Bachelor helped take the franchise off life support, but the ratings for their signature show are still abysmal, and they likely chose Joey to be The Bachelor because he’s a fan favorite and will boost overall interest in the franchise again.
But what makes Joey different from other leads? First off, he’s not afraid to be vulnerable and admit that he wants to find love. He doesn’t believe that showing this side of him makes him weak, proving that he’s not only comfortable in his masculinity but is one of the more masculine and mature leads of the franchise. During Charity’s season, he showed that he wants to take the lead in a relationship and treat a woman with the respect she deserves. In a social media climate of red-pill men who consider disrespecting and degrading women a virtue, Joey is a breath of fresh rose-scented air.
The simple truth is that fans are tired of seeing f-boy Bachelor leads. We want to see a good man who wants to get married and have kids find his happy ending. While we love seeing drama on the show, we prefer drama among contestants over the lead behaving badly. The lead is essentially the season's protagonist, and we want someone we can root for. Some of the leads in the past few seasons, like Zach Shallcross and Matt James, were decent and were much better than the f-boy leads like Peter Weber and Clayton Echard, but fans are dying for someone of the same caliber as Sean Lowe and Ben Higgins, who came on the show with a genuine interest to find a wife and start a family. Luckily for us, they are giving us that with Joey Graziadei.
Closing Thoughts
The Bachelor franchise has been on the decline for a few years now but showed signs that it could make a comeback due to the popularity of The Golden Bachelor, which aired last fall. Joey Graziadei’s season is the perfect opportunity for the franchise to win fans back and gain new ones, as he seems to be the most genuine lead in several years.
