Everything We Know About German Track Star Alicia Schmidt
In 2017, a magazine dubbed Alicia Schmidt the "World's sexiest athlete," and the title stuck. But the track and field star couldn't care less: "[It] doesn't mean anything to me."
Track and field star Alicia Schmidt, 25, was ecstatic to learn she qualified for the 2024 Paris Olympics in the 4x400m mixed relay.
Schmidt, nicknamed "the world's sexiest athlete," played a role in the success of Germany's relay team and earned a silver medal at the 2017 European Athletics U20 Championships.
After years of being a dedicated athlete, Schmidt finally received the call that she had been selected to be in the German Squad this summer. "My biggest dream came true! In just one month, I will be in Paris, creating memories that will last a lifetime," she said after hearing the news that brought her to tears.
She continued, "This thought has been my motivation every single day for several years now, reminding me of why it is important to never give up on my goals and to put in the work."
Schmidt was born in Worms, Germany, and received her education at the Fresenius University of Applied Sciences. She's not only talented, smart, and beautiful, but she's also got strong values. While the runner boasts a large following across social media platforms, Schmidt revealed that she has a modest base salary and is selective about brand deals. She maintains her integrity—even when a large sum of money is involved.
The Olympian says she has to be "100% behind" a brand before agreeing to work with them. "Two months ago, I received an offer from a well-known brand. But I wasn't 100% behind it. I don't feel comfortable with that. That would have been in the mid to high six figures for a campaign," she told Bild.
"In principle, I have to say that it is not easy for most German track and field athletes to make a living from sport," she explained.
Believe it or not, Schmidt doesn't care about the "sexy" title either. "This title doesn't mean anything to me," she revealed in an older interview.
"It’s based on a subjective opinion of someone else judging the appearance of a person," she added. "I like to think that beauty comes from the inside!"
Schmidt likes to keep it professional, mostly sharing track and field content. In 2022, she opened up about wanting to keep her life private. "I really don't feel comfortable sharing my private life with people who don't know me personally – but at the same time, I enjoy using social media and only share the aspects of my life that I want to share," she said.
"I am so grateful for all of the business opportunities that have risen from my Instagram account, and I really have fun creating content for the platform," Schmidt added.
"My goal is to make it to the Olympics in Paris in 2024 and become faster," she said at the time. Schmidt did just that and more.
