Ghislaine Maxwell Found Guilty Of Sex Trafficking
After a private trial and a lengthy deliberation from the jury, Ghislaine Maxwell has been found guilty.
Ghislaine Maxwell, British socialite and accomplice of the late financier Jeffrey Epstein, has been found guilty of sex trafficking. She has been convicted on five of six counts.
The jury found Maxwell guilty of conspiracy to entice minors to travel to engage in illegal sex acts, conspiracy to transport minors with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity, transportation of a minor with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity, sex trafficking conspiracy, and sex trafficking of a minor.
Maxwell was not convicted of enticing a minor to travel to engage in illegal sex acts.
Maxwell was accused of recruiting and grooming four teenage girls for Epstein to abuse and exploit between 1994 and 2004. You can read the testimonies of the four victims here. Her verdict indicates that the jury found her to be a willing and knowing accomplice, and not a puppet of Epstein.
Maxwell, 60, could be sentenced for up to 70 years in prison. She also faces two perjury charges that will be tried separately.
