Over 60 police cars swarmed toward a Miami shopping center on January 1, 2023, as cops tried to shut down a large group of teens fighting. According to Miami officials, the chaos occurred at Bayside Marketplace at 401 Biscayne Boulevard.

The teens were allegedly lighting loud fireworks, causing panic among civilians at the mall. But did the brawl really need 60 cop cars?

Here's what happened (per news sites): A resident took the sound of the fireworks as gunshots and reported an active reporter, which prompted a serious response from Miami police. Some of the officers who showed up "were heavily armed and approached the crowd displaying high-powered rifles, reflecting the fact that officers were initially erroneously told the situation involved an active shooter," said the president of Downtown Neighbors Alliance, James Torres.

This is the story that they're telling us, and it makes sense – to me, anyway. To others, not so much. Some people are convinced that cops didn’t come for a fight but for some creatures or aliens purportedly spotted at the mall on video. Here's why.

“Creature” Spotted

@auntie_coolette on TikTok made a viral video on the subject, stating that "eyewitnesses" claimed to see creatures that were anywhere from 8 to 10 feet tall. She noted how people also said that there were power outages and canceled flights to Miami.

Layah Heilpurn, who resides in Miami, says she was at the scene when the cop cars swarmed the mall. Heilpurn says she and her friend pulled over to ask people what was going on, and they spoke to a panicked eyewitness who claimed to see a 7-foot-tall creature. Another person said they saw something straight out of the Alien movies. Heilpurn pulls out her phone to record a video, but the cops grab it and make her delete it.

She also notes how the coppers in the sky appeared to be looking for something, and the electricity in the surrounding area went out. "All I know is the Epstein files have just come out. This seems like one big massive distraction," she added.

Another account on X (formerly Twitter) reported that a "witness claims they saw 'creatures' or beings' walking at the mall," adding that black helicopters were on the scene. I'm not exactly sure who the witness is or how they got the information.

Interestingly, internet personalities noticed a blurry grey thing walking around the mall in one of the videos taken of the mall. @MattFrench wrote, "I zoomed in on one of the tiktok videos about the Miami Mall creature, so you can see the gray creature walking in between these police cars and the building."

He added, "Eyewitnesses say it was somehow able to blend in to the crowd even though it was very tall. There is thinking that the gray/silver color was reflective somehow, and there may have been some hypnotizing or psychological camouflage. Folks, this is way too weird for my pay grade." Is it a Nephilim? A giant? Perhaps it's officers walking side-by-side, blurring together on camera due to how far they are? Who knows.

Aliens Spotted? Here's What Miami Police Say

However, Linda Catalina of the Mostly Peaceful Latinas podcast is a resident of Miami, and she doesn't think the whole "alien invasion" thing is real (even if it was, what business do they have in Miami?). Catalina shares that she spoke to Miami police, and officials are sticking to their story. The juveniles were causing chaos. “They started burglarizing stores and vandalizing in Bayside. If it’s hundreds of juveniles, it’s going to take a lot of officers to get it under control,” they reported.

One official said that he saw one of the teens throw an object (believed to be a bottle) at a victim's car, striking the passenger side. He stopped his vehicle to look for damage, and an argument ensued when one of the teens admitted throwing it. The man supposedly got jumped by multiple juveniles. His vehicle was also entered, and his iPhone 13 Pro Max was stolen.

Police reports state that officials were able to catch and detain four males – two 15-year-old boys, one 14-year-old, and another 16-year-old – who were identified by the alleged victim. Two of the teens are facing charges of burglary, unoccupied conveyance, grand theft, battery, and resisting an officer with violence, according to NBC Miami. Two other teens were arrested for resisting an officer without violence, and all four are expected at juvenile court on Wednesday.

Torres said, "We want to reassure everyone in our community that the Downtown Neighbors Alliance is asking our leaders to use this development as a teachable moment."
