Can the controversial “Green Line Test" show which relationships will end in divorce?

@JackMacBarstool from Barstool Sports has attracted millions of views on TikTok for his videos on the “green line test” – a method to decipher the power dynamics in a relationship. The creator of the viral test goes by the username @alpharivelino on Twitter, who started drawing green vertical lines at the center of bodies in photos. He claims the test can read a couple’s body language by analyzing their posture. By drawing green lines, you can apparently tell who wears the pants in a relationship. In a test, the person who is being leaned into is the “alpha,” and whoever is doing the leaning is the “less dominant” one. And if the girl is leaning away from her man while he's leaning into her, she apparently might not be as into him. While body language experts are highly critical of the test, we can't help but notice the celebrity couples who have "failed" the test.

Johnny Depp and Amber Heard

Starting off with Johnny Depp and Amber Heard, we can clearly see that Amber’s head is tilted away from Johnny, who is standing straight. We now know from court cases that Heard was allegedly abusive towards Depp, leading to their messy and infamous divorce.

Kim Kardashian and Pete Davidson

Kim and Pete dated for about nine months until they finally decided to call it quits. The couple made headlines when Kim talked about their first kiss in an SNL skit. Turns out, their romance ended up being short-lived, which they said is due to conflicting schedules. No surprise to Twitter user @alphrivelino, though, since they failed the test.

Kristin Cavallari and Jay Cutler

After 10 years of being together, this celebrity couple decided to get a divorce. But Kristin and Jay apparently did not have an amicable split as some people thought. “[Cutler] is guilty of such inappropriate marital conduct as renders further cohabitation unsafe and improper,” Cavallari said in her divorce filing. And according to @alpharivelino - you guessed it - they failed the test.

Closing Thoughts

Is this a tried-and-true method to determine how healthy a relationship is? Probably not. You can still find married couples online who don’t “pass” the test. In Victoria and David Beckham’s photos, for example, Victoria typically stands straight or leans away from David. I'd find it hard to believe that their marriage of 25 years is on the rocks based on an internet test. Famous celebrities posing on the red carpet are probably just trying their best to look good for the paparazzi.
