A groom's short and raunchy wedding vows has sent the internet into a frenzy.

What's with the unserious wedding vows?

Earlier this year, a groom shared sexually explicit vows at his wedding, telling his wife-to-be that she was going to end up as a "Toaster Strudel or a Twinkie" (cringing as I type this).

Now, we've got a different man going viral for the same thing. A video was recently uploaded to TikTok and Twitter of a man named Cody sharing his inappropriate "vows" on what was supposed to be a special day. His wasn't as bad as the one I mentioned, but still.

You Promise to What?!

The woman read an emotional and sweet letter to her life partner at the altar: "From the moment we met in high school, we have had a special bond that was indescribable. Since then, you have distracted me, captivated me, and challenged me in a way no one ever has," she said. "I always thought it would be difficult to find someone who would love me when I was in a million pieces."

"But when I say I wouldn't be more proud than the man, dad, and partner you are today, I mean it," the bride added. "And I have fallen for you over and over again. You have been there through my heartbreaks as a best friend when you saw how broken I was. You showed me that not every piece has to be in place to create something special. That love can exist in the most imperfect, lost, and broken people."

"I promise to always be true to you, to support you, to frustrate you and challenge you, to hold you accountable, and to share with you the most beautiful moments of my life," she concluded. Sweet, right?

Here's what the husband-to-be had to say: "I promise to smack that *ss every chance I get. That's all I got," he added. The groom laughed, but no one really joined him. The marriage officiant even tried to give him another chance. "Are you sure?" he asked. "That's what you're going out with?"

In the TikTok comment section, viewers noted how they heard a man say, "Oh, Cody," in response to the inappropriate exchange. The audience is not happy for the bride. "This is very embarrassinggggggggggg , not when my family is there !!" @jessieeeaaa wrote on X.

"'Come on, Cody,'" a woman on TikTok commented. "[This] made me so sad. Even his friends were disappointed in him."

Some internet users came to the groom's defense. "She knows him. She smiles through it all," tweets @therealmissjo. "I don’t think that this was a surprise to her at all. Not sure we can really judge. Up to her if she wants to marry someone who can’t be bothered to come up with some vows." True. She married him, after all. She knows the groom better than we do. They're high school sweethearts and the bride seems madly in love.

However, there's a time and place for crude jokes – and a wedding in front of friends, family, and children is not one of them. A marriage ceremony is a time to celebrate union, a special event typically held once between two people. The bride wants to cherish her wedding day (and grooms do, too, usually), so she expects it to be perfect and romantic. I wish all grooms would put more effort into vows to show their love and dedication to their relationship.
