"Guardians Of The Galaxy" Director Defended Chris Pratt When A Viral Tweet Demanded That He Be Replaced As Star-Lord
"Guardians of the Galaxy" was a huge step for Chris Pratt's career. He starred as the protagonist Star-Lord, also known as Peter Quill, and he has reprised this role in a few other Marvel movies since the 2014 debut film.
There are many people who have been demanding that Star-Lord is replaced in future films, though, because apparently they take issue with Chris Pratt's personal values and political leanings. The only thing is, Pratt has never really talked about his politics before; people simply assume certain things about him because he's outspokenly Christian and attends church. A tweet went viral recently in which the Twitter user advocated for Pratt to be replaced in the Guardians of the Galaxy cast.

The tweet showed a side-by-side picture of Pratt and Patrick Wilson, another actor who does in fact possess a striking resemblance to Pratt. "Marvel. Hear me out. Just... replace him," the tweet said. It garnered more than 209,000 likes and nearly 14,000 retweets. This isn't the first time that Twitter users have asked for Pratt to be replaced, but this particular tweet seemed to go viral.
James Gunn, Guardians of the Galaxy director, just couldn't let it go. He responded on Tuesday and made it clear that Pratt isn't going anywhere.
"For what? Because of your made-up, utterly-false beliefs about him? For something that someone else told you about him that’s not true? Chris Pratt would never be replaced as Star-Lord but, if he ever was, we would all be going with him," Gunn wrote.
Many are applauding Gunn for sticking up for Pratt and refusing to go along with the trend of canceling someone – or even worse, getting them fired – because there is speculation that someone may have different beliefs than they do. There's no denying that being an outspoken Christian in Hollywood today is a lonely place to be, but Chris Pratt is continuing on with his faith practice and still making blockbuster movies, despite how upset it may make the trolls.
You can catch Pratt in the upcoming Marvel movie Thor: Love and Thunder.
