Gymnast Livvy Dunne Caught Photoshopping Her Instagram Pictures To Make Herself Appear Less Muscular And More Curvy
Celebrities edit their photos more than most people realize, and gymnast Livvy Dunne is the latest influencer to be caught photoshopping her pictures to make herself appear less muscular, more curvy, and slimmer.
The Kardashian-Jenner clan is notorious for severely editing pictures they post on their social media. Kim Kardashian was caught red-handed earlier this year when she posted a photo of herself in the pool sipping on a drink; a photographer reverse-photoshopped the picture to show how dramatically she edited out her trapezius muscle in an attempt to make her neck appear smaller. Fans and haters alike slammed her for lying so recklessly about her appearance and sending the wrong message to young women everywhere. But Kim is hardly the only person in the world of Hollywood and social media who uses photoshop to make herself appear slimmer. 20-year-old gymnast Livvy Dunne is the latest person to be accused of secretly editing her pictures.

Livvy Dunne was a member of the USA national gymnastics team in 2017 and currently competes for Louisiana State University in the NCAA. She's as beautiful as she is talented, and many followers praise her for having the perfect body. However, a TikToker pointed out a few times when Livvy has deceived her audience by visibly editing photos of her body.
At the ESPY Awards in July 2022, Livvy walked the red carpet in a gorgeous halter white dress with a sequined neckline. She posted two of the press photos on her Instagram, and TikToker Olivia @prettiboiswag showed how different the photo on her Instagram was compared to the original. In the pictures Livvy posted on her page, she's showing the back of her body to the camera in one photo and facing the camera straight on with her hand on her hip in the other photo. She looks especially curvy in the first picture.
However, @prettiboiswag found the original. And it doesn't quite look the same. "This one is actually very dramatic in my opinion," she said. "This one is just not okay."
Her butt has been extremely altered in the photo on her Instagram and her back has been severely edited down to make herself seem slimmer. In the other photo where she's looking straight on into the camera, her waist has also been visibly slimmed down to give her more of an hourglass shape.
@prettiboiswag shows yet another picture that Livvy posted on her Instagram. It's a professional photo taken in front of the parallel bars. Livvy is wearing a purple one-piece and there's chalk flying all around her.
However, the original, which was shared by the New York Post, also looks very different. In the original picture, her lat muscles are bigger and she has less of an hourglass shape, meaning she has noticeably edited the photo to make herself look smaller and more curvy.
In yet another picture on Livvy's Instagram, she is competing and has just stuck her dismount. She edited her belly down to make herself look much smaller.
It's pretty shocking that a 20-year-old gymnast who is in tip-top shape would feel the need to severely edit her body to look like something that it's not.
"she’s literally a gymnast… she’s gonna be more muscular idk why she does this. her athleticism is more impressive than any like count," someone commented on TikTok.
"it’s like dove cameron.. why do celebs do this when we have access to the original photos? like they r beautiful and already have funs, why do this?" another person said.
We live in a culture where even the most beautiful celebrities and athletes don't feel comfortable enough in their own skin to be honest about their figures. It may seem trivial and shallow, but these images are consumed by millions of people. Livvy has 2.6 million followers on Instagram.
People are now speculating that the majority of her pictures on Instagram are doctored, especially the ones where her butt looks especially large and her waist appears to be tiny. It's unfortunate that such young, beautiful women feel the need to lie about what they look like in order to get more clicks and views, especially when they are gorgeous just the way they naturally are.
