Haitian Immigrants Are Eating Pets, Stealing And Butchering People's Cats And Dogs—Springfield Residents Outraged
Numerous social media posts are saying that Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio, are stealing pets and eating them.
Tensions rise as Springfield residents voice their frustrations over Haitian immigrants disobeying traffic laws, allegedly killing and eating animals not intended for consumption, and their hostile behavior. You can read more about their reports here.
More recently, social media has been flooded with posts reporting that Haitian immigrants are stealing cats to eat them. The announcement went viral shortly after an Ohio resident took to Facebook to say that someone in Springfield had their cat stolen. "My neighbor informed me that her daughters friend had lost her cat," they wrote. "She checked pages, kennels, asked around, etc."
"One day she came home from work, as soon as she stepped out of her car, looked towards a neighbors house, where Haitians live, & saw her cat hanging from a branch, like you'd do a deer for butchering, & they were carving it up to eat," they added. "I've been told they are doing this to dogs, they have been doing it at snyder park with the ducks & geese, as I was told that last bit by rangers & police."
J.D. Vance also spoke about Ohio residents' pets being abducted "and eaten by people who shouldn't be in this country."
Similarly, Malaysian influencer Ian Miles Cheong shared a video of a woman in Ohio being arrested for allegedly eating someone's cat. In his comment, Cheong suggested that the woman was "Haitian." However, it has been clarified that the woman, Allexis Telia Ferrell, had lived in America for six years and spoke with an American accent. There is no evidence confirming she is Haitian.
Haitian Immigrants Eating Ducks and Other Animals
Mainstream media continues to say that the claims of Haitian immigrants stealing cats and eating them are misinformation. However, numerous Springfield residents have reported immigrants killing ducks at the park and eating them. One resident told city officials, "They're in the park, grabbing up ducks by their neck, and cutting their head off and walking off with them and eating them."
A viral photo on X shows a man carrying what appears to be a goose. The source of the photo is unknown, but users believe he's taking it home. "Still can’t get over this Haitian dude walking around with an entire goose like it’s a freshly prepared bag of Chic-fil-a," commentator Savannah Hernandez captioned the picture.
Another woman who spoke at a city commission meeting says immigrants are "pulling off of the highway to publicly clean and gut the roadkill" and are "stealing animals from farmers and leaving their severed heads at the site of an old school where children play, relieving themselves in public, making some barbaric stew out of the birds that live in our park."
Right-wing accounts are now urging people to vote for Donald Trump in November, portraying the alleged incidents involving Haitians as "Kamala's America." Trump signed a federal bill into law in 2019, making animal cruelty a federal felony, contrasting his move with the current situation.
"If you like ducks or cats, Trump’s your only choice in November," wrote commentator Nick Sortor. "Otherwise, they’re dinner for Kamala’s illegal Haitians. I wish I was kidding."
