Each year at the Met Gala, celebrities and high-profile guests grace the red carpet in their show-stopping couture. This year's event, celebrating “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty,” was no exception. Yet despite the elegance of the Met, red-carpet interviewers and stars somehow managed to conjure up the most awkward and viral moments of the night.

From cringe-worthy questions to uncomfortable interactions, here are the four most awkward moments of the 2023 Met Gala.

Interviewer Jokes about Taking Kim Kardashian’s Pearls

In a short Q&A sesh, two red-carpet Vogue hosts ask Kim Kardashian about her pearl dress. "Mother, she's mothering. We're trying to be Gen Z," Chloe Fineman, one of the interviewers, jokes.

They ask her if she's wearing real pearls, and Kim confirms they are, after stating that a couple dropped from her outfit. They then tell her they will follow her around to pick up the remnants. Now, obviously, they're just poking fun at Kim here – but people think they're out of pocket since the SKIMS founder had a traumatizing incident where she was robbed at gunpoint in Paris. 

Doja Cat Commits to Being a Feline

Doja Cat, who was dressed as Karl Lagerfeld's pet, Choupette, stayed committed to her being a feline – even during her interview with Emma Chamberlain.

Doja Cat's responses to Chamberlain's questions were meows, which left many fans entertained and weirded out. “I swear this is hunger games," wrote @Sarah96. 

Another commenter said, "this was fun idc, love doja."

Chloe Fineman Forgets Aubrey Plaza's Name – or Did She?

Yesterday, another video of Chloe went viral on TikTok, and users were convinced she actually forgot Aubrey Plaza's name. “Wow, look at these three lovely ladies,” the comedian says, referring to stars Stella McCarthy, Aubrey Plaza, and Madelyn Cline. “We have Stella McCartney, Madelyn Cline and Audrey …." she pauses.

"Slutburn," the Parks and Recreation actress joked. "Well, I'll take it," Chloe responded.

"Omgggggg I knew somebody would post! How awkward!!!" A woman named Jessica commented.

"Honestly both the hosts were awful," wrote @xrysoulaaa. "I had to stop the live a couple of times. The questions they asked and the way they acted was so hard to watch."

Here's the thing, though – it appears the SNL cast member and Aubrey do know each other since the actress recently guest-starred on the show alongside Chloe. As usual, viewers have a tendency to take things out of context, when in reality, the Met Gala attendees had an absolute blast – and we're totally here for it!
