Many women desire fuller lips, but not everyone is ready to jump on the filler bandwagon or risk getting botched. So, if you’re looking for a natural boost (or just want a plumper pout for the day), here are options that don’t involve a syringe.
Natural Ways to Plump Your Lips
1. Volufiline: The TikTok-Famous Lip Booster
If you’re on beauty TikTok, you’ve probably heard about the Volufiline craze. It’s an oil-based topical ingredient that claims to promote fat storage. Influencers put it on areas needing more volume, like on their eyebags or deep lines. But does it actually work?
A Reddit user from r/SkincareAddiction shared her experience and came with receipts to back up her results. “One week before and after on Volufiline, an oil topical I got from eBay. I reckon my lips look plumper, particularly my top lip.” We agree! We definitely see a difference. However, use with caution, because the user adds, "I used it under my eyes, nasolabial folds, and forehead—but it’s too heavy and has caused skin textural issues so I discontinued.” Check out her results below:

TikTok user @skinskingirl documented her results over two months and shared before-and-after photos. Her lips do look more plump and symmetrical, which is a bonus.
What do the experts say? Dermatologist Dr. Engelman explained to Who What Wear, “By stimulating adipocyte differentiation and proliferation, Volufiline is said to promote lipid storage, which ultimately leads to an increase in volume and that filler-like effect it's associated with. However, there is not enough evidence to support this—dramatic volume enhancement is typically not feasible through only topical skincare.”
So Volufiline might give a little extra volume over time, but it’s not going to replace that noticeable filler look.
2. Microcurrent
Microcurrent devices are the little handheld tools that use electrical currents to tone your face. The Science of Self-Care, a YouTube channel focused on beauty, says she was able to make her lips look fuller by consistently using a microcurrent device.
According to ZiipBeauty, “When used on and around the lips, microcurrent helps to contract the Orbicularis oris muscle which increases circulation to the Vermilion border, giving you the perfect pout. The effects are immediate and can last for up to 72 hours.”
3. Face Massage, Because Your Lips Have Muscles Too
What do you do when you want bigger muscles? You work them out. New York-based esthetician Danna Omari went viral on TikTok for sharing her lip massage technique, claiming it can make lips look naturally plumper over time.
She explains, “Take your thumb and index finger, gently pull and knead back and forth. Do this every day to strengthen the muscle.”
Danna also warned, “Make sure you don’t have too much slip so that you have a good grip.”
The key here? Consistency. Unlike fillers, which give instant results, this technique works by stimulating blood flow and toning the muscles around your lips.
4. The Vaseline & Hyaluronic Acid Trick
This one’s been around for a couple of years now, but TikTokers swear it works. One user shared her results below, and they look great!
Slather on some hyaluronic acid serum, then seal it in with Vaseline before bed. By morning, your lips will be hydrated, smoother, and plumper–looking.
5. Dermaroller
Yeah, I may have lied when I said "no needles." Dermarollers have teeny tiny needles that beauty gurus use to reduce the appearance of acne scars and stimulate hair growth. Meanwhile, holistic esthetician Gin Amber (and many TikTokers) swears by dermarolling to naturally plump lips. In a YouTube video, she explains, "Why dermaroll your lips? Because it actually boosts collagen production, increases circulation, oxygenates the skin, and improves elastin. You can do this instead of getting fillers." The bonus is that dermarollers are affordable and easy to use.
She uses a 0.25mm dermaroller, explaining that lips are sensitive and shouldn’t be treated with longer needles right away. Here’s how she does it:
Disinfect everything, including hands, dermaroller, and lips.
Roll in different directions. Use it horizontally, vertically, and diagonally around the lips first, then directly on the lips.
Use light to moderate pressure. She adds, "Not too much, but not so little that you feel nothing."
Apply a healing balm. She recommends natural, fragrance-free products, mentioning she’s launching a Manuka honey lip balm soon.
Gin also warns against sun exposure after dermarolling, saying, "Avoid the sun for at least 48 hours, wear SPF, and keep your lips hydrated."
6. Eat Carrots: Nature’s Collagen Booster
There's a reason why carrot salads have become so mainstream. Carrots promote healthy vision, balance blood sugar levels, and help us maintain a healthy weight. Did you know they also have beauty-enhancing properties? This common vegetable can also keep your complexion firm, plump, and youthful, and it may give you a fuller, poutier lip.
