How To Romanticize Your College Campus Into The Ultimate Fall Destination
PSLs have officially hit the nearest Starbucks, the temperature is beginning to cool, football season has begun, and the leaves just might be looking a little bit browner than they used to be. I mean, it is October…
This means it’s time to kick back and enjoy the season that women all across the nation love: fall.
Anne of Green Gables wasn’t wrong when she said, “I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers,” dubbing fall as one of the most beautiful seasons known to man. And, for those of you who may feel stuck in school with copious amounts of homework to do, keep in mind that one of the best places to enjoy autumn just might be your college campus. That’s right.
Here are some tips on how to enjoy this wildly romantic and aesthetic season, even if you’re stuck on campus.
Hit up your local Starbucks and get a hot coffee off the fall menu! That Apple Crisp Oat Milk Macchiato or Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew are calling your name. Pair this with a study session curled up in your favorite library seat, in front of a rainy window, and – voilà – pristine fall vibes.
Go to that football game with your friends! Football is a fall classic, and it doesn’t matter if your school is losing to unranked teams like Marshall (sorry, Notre Dame). Put on a gameday outfit, go tailgating all day, and enjoy the crisp fall air from the stands!
Fall is quite literally the perfect time to go out on a limb with your wardrobe – or to just stay perfectly comfy. Whether you want to wear your favorite fuzzy sweater, flare leggings, and slippers, or jeans and a pair of adorable brown boots, this is the season to go for it.
Explore campus! No matter where you go to school, your campus definitely offers sights that you have yet to see. Take a walk to see the beautiful fall foliage, such as around the lakes at my beautiful home base of Notre Dame. Walk around and look at the dome and the plethora of beautiful buildings that make campus home! Just a simple walk in the fall air at your school can be a day-changing experience.
Go apple picking! Everyone loves going to the apple orchard or even a pumpkin patch. Get together with a group of friends and grab as many apples as you can to make a pie with afterwards.
Plan a fall day with your friends or boyfriend! It doesn’t matter what this entails – maybe go to Trader Joe’s, grab your favorite snacks (the cinnamon rolls are out of this world), heat up some cider and cocoa, and have a fall movie watch party.
Even better, have a picnic out on the quad with a blanket, some apple cider donuts, cute outfits, and you may even get a chance to snap the perfect Instagram-worthy polaroid picture if you’re lucky.
Plan your Halloween costumes! Now is as good a time as ever to plan your outfits for your legendary Halloween night.
Have a bonfire and roast s’mores. S’mores are the most underrated fall event and a laid-back bonfire with blankets and Hersheys is sure to be a hit.
Turn on an episode of the classic Gilmore Girls. Rory Gilmore walking around picturesque Stars Hallow, and breaking hearts left and right, with the heartwarming “Where You Lead” soundtrack, will bring peak fall vibes right to your tiny quad.
Visit your local farmers' market! Whether it’s on campus or a walk into the town center, grab some freshly baked goods, sample all the salsa, and snag some fall décor for your cozy room.
Put in your headphones and take a jog around campus with a friend! Cool fall temperatures have always made pristine running weather conditions. Couple that with T-Swift's 10 minute “All Too Well” on repeat for the perfect run you’ve been putting off.
Closing Thoughts
Fall is an incredibly beautiful season filled with exquisite foliage, crisp smoky air, and chilly temperatures. And indulging in that in college is, quite simply, so easy. So sit back and enjoy that football game, a cozy study session, and so much more – right along with your steaming hot PSL, because winter is right around the corner!
