I Tried All The Top Lip Plumpers—Here Are The Ones That Actually Work
Want fuller lips without the filler? Here are the best lip plumpers to achieve the look.
I am a sucker for lip products – lipsticks, lip gloss, balms, scrubs, liners, I want them all. I’m no makeup guru, and I have a lot to learn when it comes to painting my face, but I know that some color and plumpness to your lips can enhance your appearance.
I don’t have the biggest lips, and I’m not a fan of fillers. So, I bought all the trendy lip plumpers and tried them all. Here’s my review and some before-and-afters of TikTokers who tried the same products! I also added some dupes in this article because some of the items are waaaay too expensive.

Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb Cream Color Drip Lip Cream
I got this lip gloss in the shade mauve, and I love how it looks on my lips. It’s a light pink color, almost neutral, and while it doesn’t really do a lot of plumping, I’d say it did a decent job making them look juicier. At one point, this became my go-to. The shade wasn’t too bold, so it matched my daily makeup. This may not be your fave if your lips are more pigmented, though, so try a richer color than the mauve.
However, NYX Butter Gloss in the shade Angel Food Cake is pretty similar to this product and costs $6. As much as I loved Rihanna’s lip gloss, I can’t justify the $22 price tag.
Price: $22
Plumping effect: 3/5
Color: 3/5
Dior Addict Lip Maximizer Plumping Gloss
I got this beloved gloss in 009 Intense Rosewood, which turned out to be a deep pink shade. Here’s the problem, though: The vibrancy doesn’t last very long, and for $40, I expected more from Dior. I wouldn’t buy it again. I’d buy it as a gift (who wouldn’t be happy to receive Dior products?) but not for myself.
Oh, and there’s no plumping effect, just a cooling effect that lasts for a couple of minutes. Save your money. You're better off with Maybelline Lip Gloss & Lip Plumper, which you can find at Walmart.
Price: $40
Plumping effect: 2/5
Color: 3/5
Buxom Full-On Plumping Lip Polish
Similar to the Fenty Glass Bomb, Buxom’s lip gloss will give you a nice, plumping effect and is slightly tingly. It gives a glossy finish, the packaging is nice, and it doesn’t dry your lips out. Buxom also has an amazing color collection.
Not a bad choice, but is it worth $25? If you’re searching for something with a dramatic effect, probably not.
Price: $25
Plumping effect: 4/5
Color: 4/5
Maracuja Juicy Lip Plump
I actually really like Maracuja’s Juicy Lip Plump because the product has a high-quality feel and look to it. It has a cooling effect, but it doesn’t burn and feels moisturizing. The colors are lovely. I bought it in the shade Honeysuckle, a dark, cherry brown shade that goes great with my olive skin tone.
But this article is on how well these lip plumpers live up to their name, and Maracuja doesn’t really do that. It’s better off advertising itself as just a gloss. Try out NYX Fat Oil Slick Click instead for $11.
Price: $24
Plumping effect: 2/5
Color: 5/5
Winner: Too Faced Lip Injection Maximum Plump Extra Strength Hydrating Lip Plumper
Alright, the OG wins when it comes to plumping…and pain. If you really want to look like you just got a lip augmentation, then Too Faced will not let you down.
Every time I put it on, my lips plump, they turn pink, and then I kind of regret my decision. Pair it with the Lip Injection Extreme Lip Shaper Plumping Lip Liner if you really want to torture yourself for beauty.
Price: $33
Plumping effect: 5/5
Pain: 5/5
Color: 3/5
Sephora Collection Outrageous Plump Intense Hydrating Lip Gloss
Yes, I know, the price is a little much for the Too Faced lip gloss, but don’t worry. Sephora has a nice dupe for only $13 and does the job.
Price: $13
Plumping effect: 4/5
Color: 2/5
