Idris Elba Just Got Married In Morocco And The Photos Are Breathtaking
How do the British do it?! From starring in the best movies and television shows to melting our hearts with those accents, it's hard not to swoon over them. And now one of the sexiest men in Hollywood, Idris Elba, is officially off the market.
That’s right, Idris Elba married the beautiful model Sabrina Dhowre in a ceremony that was held at the Ksar Char-Bagh Hotel in Marrakesh, Morocco!
The bride wore a classic veil and a stunning, very fashion forward white gown by none other than Vera Wang. And the groom dawned a modest and very fitted Ozwald Boateng suit. Both classy and elegant. But could they ever not look perfect?
Here's one cool fact you may not have known about the married man
I remember watching The Ellen DeGeneres Show when Idris went on to talk about his proposal to THEN fianceè Sabrina Dhowre and his following performance at Coachella. While he was on, he let it slip of an insanely cool detail from the most-watched and covered wedding of 2018: Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's Royal Wedding, of course. Not only did Idris attend, BUT he DJ’ed the event! And we thought he couldn't be any cooler. Now, he stars as a DJ looking to rebuild his career in a new Netflix series called “Turn Up Charlie.”
I mean, I would still love to see Elba as the next James Bond, but it looks like he has a license to kill as a DJ as well. Idris and his real life "bond girl" are the real deal.
The Royal Gift
Despite not being able to make it to the wedding themselves, because of the anticipation of the new royal baby, Meghan and Harry gave Elba and Dhowre an incredibly beautiful gift. The Royals selected a piece of art by duo The Connor Brothers to gift to the newlyweds. Apparently, the artwork is worth about $9,000, with the chosen piece featuring the quote, "Why fit in when you were born to stand out?" from Dr. Seuss. (One of my favorite authors).
The print is from a limited edition of 12, and all of the proceeds will be going to the charities that have supported Belle Curran, a 9-year-old artist who suffers from interstitial lung disease and needs a lung transplant. An amazing and thoughtful gift.
When did they meet?
Idris Elba proposed to Sabrina Dhowre at a movie screening for his film Yardie on a Friday night. She and Elba didn't meet until 2017 when they fell for each other while he was filming "The Mountain Between Us" with Kate Winslet. He told People magazine, “Falling in love while making a movie about falling in love is pretty special.”
Breathtaking. And their smiles say it all. Cheers to the happy couple!
