This week, Sommer Ray – model, influencer, and former competitive bodybuilder – revealed that she was going celibate. “i’ve fallen in love with celibacy so if you wanna date me, we’re waiting till marriage,” she shared on X.

As expected, Ray was met with a barrage of comments from men who just had to bring up her body count. "What’s the count before this celibacy?" asked @jimmyrunsmoney.

@allen34buck wrote, "Every one else got it but the man you want to spend the rest of your life with 🤣🤣🤣  you my soul mate but you have to wait 🤣🤣."

"LMFAOOOO STOP THE CAP🧢," commented @ElLordalejendro.

For some reason, it’s incredibly hard for the manosphere to believe that not every woman has had a “hoe phase.” But I would even go as far as to say that both genders are having less and less sex. The men who almost exclusively spend their time online have views shaped by social media, porn, and podcasts that frequently feature sex workers. So, yeah, it makes sense why most of them would automatically assume that Ray has a promiscuous past. I have to admit that Ray's photos are also very sexual, which only reinforces these types of assumptions.

I obviously don't know what her past was like, nor do I care. I'm just glad she's choosing to be more cautious about selecting a partner, which is something that every woman should strive for in the dating scene. Not everyone (most don't, really) deserves our body. She hit back at the trolls in another post: "to any one being annoying in the comments about my body count.. I actually have a very, very very low body count and only have slept with guys l've been in a serious relationship with," she wrote. “I've never had a one night stand & have always had a 3 month rule Thank you very much."

If a man wants his future wife to be a virgin (and vice versa), that's absolutely fine. But the irony with this situation is the unrealistic expectations, wherein women are encouraged to be "modest" and not sleep around; yet, when a woman like Ray chooses to embrace celibacy, she is automatically subjected to criticism. What do you guys want?

Miranda Kerr, former Victoria's Secret Angel, despite having a child with Orlando Bloom in her previous marriage, waited to have sex until marrying billionaire Evan Spiegel. Everyone called him a "cuck," and people were mad at Kerr for not laying down with him before getting a ring. However, Spiegel seemed happy to meet Kerr's requirements because they got hitched and now have two beautiful children together.

I obviously don't think Ray deserves the hate she got. And in my opinion, her speaking up about celibacy should be commended. It influences other women to adopt the same mindset and promotes meaningful connections rather than encouraging meaningless sex.
