Is Colleen Hoover Okay? The Internet Thinks Something’s “Off” After Her Bizarre Instagram Stories
The internet is convinced that Colleen Hoover was either drunk or “high” in her latest Instagram posts – here’s why.
Colleen Hoover, the bestselling author behind It Ends With Us, sent TikTok into a frenzy after she posted a series of Instagram Stories that left fans concerned. Instead of her usual peppy, smiley self, Hoover spoke unusually slowly; her gaze appeared unfocused, her energy "off." Was she just tired?
In the now-infamous clips, Hoover unveiled what she described as either “a new rock bottom” or “the best thing that’s ever come out of my brain.” She was talking about the Diet Pepsi she poured into ice cube trays, which she dropped into her soda. “It looks pretty disgusting,” she admitted as she showed her Diet Pepsi ice cubes. She took a sip and, anticlimactically, said it tasted like every other Diet Pepsi. The real test, she noted, would come when the ice melted. “Probably it’s going to be a great day,” she added in a monotone voice.
Shortly after her Pepsi musings, Hoover stumbled upon news in her Facebook group that her boss Stephanie had put all her merch on sale for just $10 an item, which is far cheaper than what she had paid for them. “Which means by the end of the day today, I’m going to be broke as sh**,” she joked.
Then came a jab at the swirling rumors about her business dealings: “Maybe TMZ was right. Maybe I am firing all my employees and retiring.” But instead of leaning into the bit, Hoover pivoted back to another deprecating joke, stating, “Well, I can’t retire now because now I’m going to be in the hole by 5 p.m.”
TikTok Detectives Weigh In
Naturally, TikTok sleuths pounced. User @elsrich remarked, “Again, her eyes are telling me like she looks like me after my husband has convinced me to take a couple shots of tequila. I don’t look good. She doesn’t look good.”
Meanwhile, @stephwithdadeets wondered aloud: “Um, is Colleen Hoover okay? Have you guys seen her latest stories? Seems like she’s a bit off.”
The comments were even blunter. One read, “Lorazepam. No Colleen, no.” Another pointed out, “The speech is slurring.”
What’s Going On With Hoover?
It’s not hard to imagine that she’s under a lot of stress. She’s been dragged into the messy lawsuit between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni, two of the biggest players in the It Ends With Us controversy.
And while she’s worked closely with Baldoni for years, it’s easy to see why she might have sided with Lively. The book, after all, is about domestic violence. Wouldn’t she believe the woman first? Then again, with online detectives now unearthing every questionable move Lively has allegedly made when it comes to film takeovers, maybe Hoover is rethinking everything or just mentally exhausted from the entire situation.
At the end of the day, Hoover should be celebrating. Another one of her books is getting the movie treatment. Let’s hope it ends with a successful adaptation and not another lawsuit.
