J.K. Rowling Announces She's Producing A New Harry Potter TV Series with "Succession" Directors
The wizarding world is abuzz with excitement as J.K. Rowling collaborates with Emmy-winning "Succession" writers and directors to bring Harry Potter to television once again.
With Rowling serving as an executive producer, Francesca Gardiner, renowned for her work on "Succession," has been named as the showrunner for the new Harry Potter series. Mark Mylod, also from the "Succession" team, joins as director for multiple episodes and executive producer.
While some call Rowling's involvement a "hurdle" because of her staunch refusal to bow down to trans activists and unwavering support for women, others are excited to know that a deceptive political agenda won't be pushed on the series.
Regarding the original cast, it's unlikely they'll return, especially given how they've treated Rowling in the wake of endless attacks she's received from trans activists and their allies.
Rowling recently stated that “thousands are complicit, not just medics, but the celebrity mouthpieces, unquestioning media and cynical corporations.” When asked whether she would forgive Radcliffe and Watson for their unabashed pro-trans rights stance on the issue, Rowling replied, “Celebs who cosied up to a movement intent on eroding women’s hard-won rights and who used their platforms to cheer on the transitioning of minors can save their apologies.”
“My understanding is that they’re trying to very much start fresh and I’m sure whoever is making them will want to make their own mark on it and probably not want to have to figure out how to get old Harry to cameo in this somewhere,” Daniel Radcliffe told ComicBook.com, regarding the new series. “So I’m definitely not seeking it out in any way. But I do wish them, obviously, all the luck in the world and I’m very excited to have that torch passed. But I don’t think it needs me to physically pass it.”
When asked by E! News if he would be in it, he said “I don’t think so, I think they very wisely want to [have] a clean break.” Similarly, David Yates, who directed the last four Harry Potter movies told Deadline he hasn't spoken with the cast or crew in years.
“Huge affection and a lovely group of people I worked with. But we haven’t had a conversation since we finished it. It’s been about ‘Let’s just park it, and be done for a while.' Never say never, I would say, but I’m excited about moving on,” he added.
With Rowling at the helm along with a supportive team and promising new talent, many are anticipating a spectacular addition to the HP franchise.
Rowling affirmed, "Preserving the integrity and magic of the original stories is paramount to me. I'm excited to work closely with the team to bring this vision to life."
