Jennifer Aniston has carved out a multifaceted career in Hollywood that has moved far beyond her iconic role in the TV show Friends. Recently, she starred in and produced Murder Mystery 2 for Netflix, acting alongside close friend Adam Sandler, whom she has worked with many times before. This follows her significant accomplishment as a producer with Apple's The Morning Show, where she shares the set and production responsibilities with Reese Witherspoon.
The show has been a critical success, gaining 11 Emmy nominations and even a win for supporting actor Billy Crudup, whom Aniston pushed to cast. She also won a Screen Actors Guild award for her role. Aniston's influence extends to creative aspects like camera angles, aiming to preserve the intensity of scenes. Her approach is respectful of other talents involved, contributing to a harmonious set atmosphere, says Mark Duplass, another actor on the show.
Aniston is candid about the challenges she faces, including being exhausted by endless media cycles and her criticism of cancel culture. She also shares that she's weary of the generalizations surrounding women in the media industry, referencing the sexual harassment allegations that have plagued Hollywood. She has no such stories involving Harvey Weinstein but recalls her unease around him, as she shared in a recent interview with the Wall Street Journal. She also talked about her friendship with Sandler and how thoughtful he has always been about her struggles to become a mother.

Personal trials have also shaped Aniston. Her difficult relationships with her late parents influenced her attitudes towards relationships and made her value independence. Her father, John Aniston, initially doubted her acting ambitions, but his perception changed when she gained success. She finds comfort in feeling his presence even after his passing, attributing it to signs she believes indicate he is still with her.
"I was going through IVF, drinking Chinese teas, you name it."
In a 2022 interview with Allure, Aniston, now 53, delved into the emotional and physical challenges she faced trying to get pregnant over the years, which included undergoing unsuccessful rounds of in vitro fertilization (IVF). She bemoans the societal and media scrutiny she faced, a pressure that intensified due to the grim success rates for IVF, which according to the Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology, stand at 25.1% for women aged 38-40, and a mere 12.7% for those aged 41-42.
Aniston describes her 30s and 40s as a difficult period, not least because of her attempts at conceiving. "I was going through IVF, drinking Chinese teas, you name it. I was throwing everything at it," she said. Despite the hardships, Aniston believes they shaped her into the person she was meant to be. She has no regrets, expressing a sense of relief that the chapter has closed: "I actually feel a little relief now because there is no more, 'Can I? Maybe. Maybe. Maybe.' I don't have to think about that anymore."
The media's attention to Aniston's fertility wasn't just intrusive; it was often accusatory. Tabloids suggested that her focus on her career was selfish and even claimed it was the reason behind the end of her marriages—to Brad Pitt in 2005 and to Justin Theroux in 2018. Refuting these claims, Aniston says, "It was absolute lies. I don't have anything to hide at this point."
Aniston's frustration culminated in her writing an op-ed for The Huffington Post in 2016. The piece criticized the media's obsessive attention on her reproductive status and its general treatment of women. She expressed how the continuous scrutiny was not only "maddening" but also emotionally damaging.
Sandler has known Aniston since they were in their 20s.
Sandler, who has known Aniston since they were in their 20s, knows very well how difficult the struggle has been for her. She says he and his wife send her flowers every Mother's Day. Many people assume this is a supportive measure to let her know that she isn't alone, but some people reacted to the news differently.
"Idk that’s kinda disturbing tbh… but if she likes it I love it," someone commented on X.
But most people were simply happy to hear that Sandler was showing so much love to a friend. "Funny, great at basketball, impressive shoe collection, and kind. How can you not love this guy?" someone wrote.
"This is the definition of a true friend. The fact that Adam knows someone who he’s known for years probably suffers from depression nearing Mother’s Day and he makes sure to do what he can to brighten up her day. An act so simple goes a long way for her. Big W," another person commented.
The friendship between Sandler and Aniston stretches across decades, which people can feel through the big screen, and if he takes the time to send a small gesture to her each year, it's clear that they have deeper roots than producing and acting in Hollywood hits.
