Justin Bieber Temporarily Deactivates Instagram—Fans Think It’s About Benny Blanco And Selena Gomez
Fans believe that Justin Bieber is "crashing out" over Benny Blanco and Selena Gomez.

Bieber’s social media behavior has been raising eyebrows for months. He unfollowed Drake, Diddy, Scooter Braun, and, most notably, his ex-best friend and producer, Benny Blanco. He also unfollowed his wife, Hailey Bieber, although he later claimed that was due to a hack. I’m sure he loves his wife, but I have to ask: What kind of hacker goes through all that effort just to click “unfollow” on Hailey Baldwin Bieber and then logs out?
Bieber has been more active than ever on Instagram. Interestingly, he became more active on social media following Blanco and Gomez's engagement and the release of their album I Said I Loved You First.
Over the past week, fans have noticed that Bieber has been acting off. He’s been appearing on Instagram Live to preview new music, but he hasn’t appeared sober, so to speak. Fans are speculating that the “Baby” singer has been drinking heavily or taking drugs. Many agree that he doesn’t seem to be in a great headspace at the moment. His posts have also been cryptic, posting songs on posts that allude to breakups or heartbreak. One Tupac track he shared was literally about sleeping with an enemy’s wife.
Could this have been a dig at Blanco?
Not too long after his Livestreams, Bieber deactivated his Instagram only to return to the platform the same day.
But Why Would Benny and Selena’s Engagement Set Him Off?
First off, let’s acknowledge the fact that Bieber and Blanco were really close. As Variety pointed out, their friendship goes all the way back to 2009 when they worked together on "Eenie Meenie" and "Somebody to Love (Remix)," before later collaborating on major hits like "Love Yourself" and "Cold Water." They worked on “Lonely,” a song that could only be written by someone who’s spent late nights oversharing in a studio session.
Blanco told Variety that the two of them were "like brothers," Bieber has also referred to the producer as his brother.
So imagine being Bieber: your ex-best friend is now engaged to your on-again, off-again ex-girlfriend of nearly eight years. That’s got to hurt, even if you’re married with a baby. Bieber is human, after all. He’s one of the most famous singers in the world, but he’s not perfect. Bieber has been let down by a lot of people in his life. The Blanco situation could just be another name on a long list of betrayals.
Others believe Bieber might be reacting to one song in particular—Blanco and Gomez’s "How Does It Feel to Be Forgotten?" Gomez's lyrics are about someone being embarrassing.
It’s hard to say what’s going on in the Bieber household. He posted a photo of his wife on his Instagram with Beyonce's song "Irreplaceable" and then shared images of two dove birds, one of which flew away. He also shared a video on his Story of a kid flicking off the camera with the caption, "me behind my girlfriend after she makes me mad."
Then again, he showed off the new tattoo he had dedicated to his wife. His behavior does seem a bit manic—these ups and downs feel like a couple arguing one minute and then being insanely lovey-dovey the next.
Maybe the engagement did sting for just a second, but he’s fine with it now, and all of this is for PR for his next album. As The Daily Mail previously reported: "Justin is married and has a kid, we all know that but when he heard that Selena was engaged, he'll even admit, it stung for a brief second.”
But as their source added, "Justin is only 30, but he has lived a life, and an important part of his past is now officially moved on just as much as he has moved on. He won't be stressing much about it and hopes that she is well and happy at the end of the day."
