Kanye West Speaks Out Against Abortion And Points Out "There's More Black Babies Being Aborted Than Born In New York City"

Billionaire rapper and entrepreneur Kanye West is no stranger to going against the grain. Most recently, he was a guest on Tucker Carlson's show and spoke about a variety of social issues, including and especially abortion. He proudly established yet again that he is pro-life.

On Thursday, Kanye (whose legal name is now Ye) opened up on "Tucker Carlson Tonight" on Fox. He and Tucker spoke about a variety of things, from his political affiliation with Donald Trump to the Kardashians' connection to the Clinton family. One topic he spoke about unabashedly was his opposition to abortion, something that he's talked about before. He told Tucker that he's pro-life and explained why he was wearing a picture of a baby's ultrasound.

During the interview, Tucker pointed to a lanyard that Kanye was wearing and asked, "There's a photograph on it — what is that?"

"It's a photograph of a baby's ultrasound," Kanye responded, confirming that he designed the lanyard and its image. "It just represents life. I'm pro-life."

Kanye added that he doesn't care about people's responses, considering we live in a time when the mainstream machines in our society (the press, mainstream media, Hollywood, the influencer space, etc) are pro-choice. While the world may be mostly in favor of abortion, Kanye refuses to go along for the ride. There's something else that Kanye cares about much more than society's approval.

"I care about the fact that there's more black babies being aborted than born in New York City at this point," he continued. "50% of black death in America is abortion. So I really don’t care about people’s responses, I perform for an audience of one, and that's God."

This isn't the first time that Kanye has spoken about his take on abortion. In July 2020 when he held his first campaign event in Charleston, South Carolina (he attempted to run for President), he revealed that both he and his daughter North were almost aborted. He recalled painful details from the time when Kim first realized she was pregnant with their first child.

"I was living the rapper’s lifestyle… She said she was pregnant, and for one month and two months and three months, we talked about her not having this child. She had the pills in her hand…. These pills, if you take the pills, that’s a wrap. The baby’s gone," he said.

He and Kim argued about the decision, but Kanye said he had a spiritual experience that changed his mind. “I’m in the apartment in Paris...and I have my laptop up and I got all of my creative ideas…and the screen went black and white. And God said, ‘If you f*** with my vision, I’m gonna f*** with yours’.” That's when Kanye called Kim and said, "We're gonna have this baby."

He also got emotional when talking about the fact that he was almost aborted as a baby in the womb. "You know who else protected a child?… Forty-three years ago, who do you think protected a child? My mom saved my life! My dad wanted to abort me. My mom saved my life! There would have been no Kanye West because my dad was too busy," he said.

While it may not seem like much of a big deal to see a rapper and celebrity talk about being pro-life, it has a much bigger impact on the culture than if all the politicians in DC were to come forward and oppose abortion. Kanye may be going against the grain, but he's doing something significant for the culture that will have a tremendous impact in the coming years.
