Katy Perry Votes For Rick Caruso For LA Mayor, A Moderate Democrat Who Used To Be Republican
Katy Perry is one of many celebrities who is openly progressive and she was publicly in support of liberal candidates like Hillary Clinton. However, she revealed in a recent Instagram post that she voted for Rick Caruso for LA mayor, a moderate Democrat who was Republican not too long ago.
The state of American cities has gotten worse and worse over the last couple years. Crime rates have been climbing and there are more homeless people than ever loitering around cities like Los Angeles and San Francisco, all thanks to progressive politicians who are soft on crime. As a result, even the most outspoken liberal celebrities are coming out in support of political candidates who promise to clean up the streets. Katy Perry posted proof that she voted for moderate Democrat Rick Caruso for LA mayor.

Rick Caruso promises to end street homelessness, improve public safety, increase access to affordable housing, and make LA more friendly to small businesses. He's a moderate Democrat who was Republican only a couple years ago and he was the president of the Los Angeles Police Commission. So far he has spent more than $100 million on his campaign. Caruso promises to clean up LA in all the ways that Biden-endorsed Congresswoman Karen Bass would likely fail to do so.
Actor Chris Pratt has spoken out in support of Caruso, as has his mother-in-law Maria Shriver. Surprisingly, so has singer Katy Perry. She posted a photo on her Instagram today of herself selecting Caruso on the kiosk rather than Bass.
"I am voting for a myriad of reasons (see the news) but in particular because Los Angeles is a hot mess atm," she wrote in the caption.
Katy turned off the comments on her post so it's impossible to know how her fans will react, but it's clear that she is one of many people who are fed up with the current state of Los Angeles.
"I've lived in LA for over 20 years," Chris Pratt wrote in his stories. "It's been great to me. In that time I've seen what many residents here have seen, the city's gradual decline into pain and utter disarray. If you live here, you know exactly what I'm talking about."
"I don't normally support political candidates. But in this election, there's too much to lose. If you're an LA voter, I urge you to vote for @rickcausola. He's a builder. He knows how to get sh*t done. He's the guy for our city."
Katy hasn't said much more about why she chose to vote for Caruso, but if he is elected, here's hoping he'll improve the living conditions of LA.
