Lana Del Rey Stays True To Her Americana Roots In Upcoming Album

Lana Del Rey has given us classic Americana songs like "Blue Jeans," a song of young love and the desire to start a life with a man who reminded her of James Dean. Then there's "West Coast," a song about a woman torn between choosing her California dreams and her lover. Now, she will continue her legacy in her upcoming album, Lasso.

Echoing the moves of Beyoncé, who released Cowboy Carter this year, Del Rey's new album will feature a country sound. Are celebrities embracing their American pride once again?

“All my albums are somewhat rooted in Americana, unless it’s an album like Honeymoon, which has a jazz flair, so I don’t think it will be a heavy departure,” she says about Lasso in her recent interview with Vogue. “If anything, it will just be a little lighter lyrically, and more pointed in a classic country, American, or Southern Gothic production – which again, so many of my songs already are.”

Good news for fans: Del Rey also hinted at additional singles on the way before the album's release. Expect a new track following her recent collaboration, "Tough" with Quavo. "We have two more set to drop before the year ends!" Del Rey said.

Del Rey announced her upcoming album earlier this year. While Lasso's release date remains under wraps, she hinted in an interview with NME that it might feature lighter lyrics than her recent work. Last night, she made a memorable return to the Rock en Seine festival, performing classics like “Doin’ Time,” “Summertime Sadness,” and “Ride.”

Between Cowboy Carter, Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga's hit love song "Die with a Smile," and now Lasso, it looks like we’re having a great year of celebrities embracing their American pride.
