Lily Collins Is Set To Star As Polly Pocket And We’ve Got Major Nostalgia
I don’t know about you, but I was obsessed with Polly Pocket as a kid.

I loved everything to do with dolls and didn’t outgrow my doll phase until I was 11, which let me share my dolls with my younger sisters. Our personal favorite Polly Pocket was her water park playset.
Lucky for twenty-something Polly Pocket fans everywhere, Polly is finally getting her own live action movie starring Lily Collins, of Emily in Paris. Here is what we know about the movie so far.
Who Is in It?
We know that Lily Collins will play the iconic role of Polly, as well as be a producer on the project. Alongside a photo of a young Lily playing with Polly Pocket posted on Instagram, she wrote, “Little Lil, big news. As a child who was obsessed with Polly Pockets, it’s a real dream come true to announce this project! I am partnering with the most inspiring powerhouse team — Robbie Brenner, @lenadunham, @mattel and @mgmstudios — to reintroduce Polly to the world in a fun, modern way… bringing these tiny toys to the big screen. Truly so excited to be coming on as both a producer and Polly herself! Can’t wait to dive into this pastel world…”
Another familiar name involved in the project is actress and writer Lena Dunham, who will be both writing and directing the movie. In an interview with Variety, she said, "Polly Pocket was responsible for countless hours of childhood escapism for me – Polly gave me a tiny world of magic and autonomy to narrate, so it’s pretty poetic to be tackling these same ideas now as a director."
Although Dunham is a controversial figure, I think she’s a talented writer and am still excited for the movie for the nostalgia factor (and because I adore Lily Collins).
What’s It Going To Be About?
According to Entertainment Weekly, a basic description for the film notes the story follows “a young girl and a pocket-sized woman who form a friendship.”
I love this premise for several reasons. The first is that I think it’s absolutely adorable and will speak to the inner child in all of us, and the second is that it reminds me of Life Size.

In case you don’t remember, Life Size starred a young Lindsay Lohan as a middle school girl who wishes for her mom to come back to life, but her favorite doll, Eve (played by Tyra Banks), comes to life instead. With two of the most iconic celebrities of the 2000s in starring roles, it’s needless to say that it’s nothing short of a cinematic masterpiece.
Closing Thoughts
We can all use a little nostalgia kick every once in a while, and Lily Collins starring in a live-action Polly Pocket movie will be a treat for ‘90s babies everywhere.
