Lizzo Responds To Kanye West's Comments About Her Weight During A Concert In Toronto

Lizzo is a self-proclaimed body-positive activist who has been outspoken about the so-called beauty standards in our society. However, there have been a few other outspoken individuals like Kanye West who point out the fact that it's never good to promote obesity as if it's something virtuous.

During his viral interview with Tucker Carlson, rapper and entrepreneur Kanye West mentioned Lizzo, an obese public figure who often shows her half-naked body to the world in an act of body positivity. She has called herself a "body icon" who has a "really hot body," railing against anyone who points out the fact that obesity is the number one killer in the United States. When Kanye brought up the popularity of Lizzo, he was critical of how our culture has attempted to rebrand obesity as something virtuous, when in reality, it is deadly.

Kanye pointed out that every time Lizzo loses some weight, the "bots" attack her for it. "The media wants to put out a perception that being overweight is the new goal when it's actually unhealthy," he said. "Aside from whether it's fashion and vogue, which it's not...it's actually clinically unhealthy. For people to promote that, it's demonic."

Lizzo Responds to Kanye West's Comments about Her Weight during a Concert in Toronto

Lizzo performed live in Toronto on Friday, and she had a couple of things to say in response to Kanye's comments about her. While on stage at the Scotiabank Arena, she said there are a lot of people out there who can't stop talking about her.

“I feel like everybody in America got my motherf*cking name in they motherf*cking mouth for no motherf*cking reason, I’m minding my fat black beautiful business,” she said into the microphone.

The crowd cheered in response. She followed up with, "Can I stay here?" The crowd roared again in response.

"Who can I marry for that dual citizenship?" Lizzo inquired. The crowd went wild.

Lizzo has always dodged any real conversation about the effect that "fat acceptance" has had on our society. Nearly half of all Americans are obese today, and that number just keeps rising. Sadly, pop stars like Lizzo have a greater influence on the youth than just about anyone else, and watching her live an unhealthy lifestyle and glorify obesity sends the wrong message to people who are suffering from real health conditions related to obesity.
