On March 29, Lizzo made a striking announcement on Instagram, leading fans to question the future of her music career. The 36-year-old singer posted a short and blunt statement: “I quit.”

A month later, the buzz around her announcement led many to wonder if the era of toxic fat positivity might be winding down. Lizzo had expressed her frustration with the relentless negativity and scrutiny she faced online and in her personal life, saying, “I’m getting tired of putting up with being dragged by everyone in my life and on the internet."

Despite her declaration, Lizzo shifted her focus to personal growth and her shapewear brand, Yitty. She’s also been sharing her weight loss journey nonstop on her social media accounts, continuing to teach women to love their bodies while promoting a healthy lifestyle. Just one year after facing litigation from her former backup dancers, Lizzo seems to have undergone significant character development.

More recently, Lizzo shared a gym selfie to show off her new physique. "A year ago today I was so broken and dark that I couldn't have imagined feeling the way I do now," she wrote in the caption.

She's also been showing off her weight loss in her clothing brand.

In a New York Times interview this year, the "About Damn Time" singer revealed, “I’m taking the time every day to put some love into my body. There is never a day when I regret taking a walk or doing some Pilates.”

On Instagram, you can see Lizzo jumping rope, lifting weights, and drinking healthy juices. While I don't expect the contentious movement to go away anytime soon, Lizzo's positive approach to weight loss and self-care inspires women to take on their own fitness goals.
