Madonna Is Facing A Lawsuit Over Exposing Fans To “Sexually Explicit Content” During Her "Celebration" Tour

Madonna is embroiled in legal trouble once again, this time over her Celebration Tour. Justen Lipeles has filed a class action lawsuit against the singer and other entities involved in the tour, alleging that he was subjected to extremely explicit sexual content.

Lipeles says concertgoers were exposed to "pornography without warning" and "topless women on stage simulating sex acts" during a concert he attended on March 7th and that the experience caused him emotional distress. He also alleges that Madonna and the organizers of negligent misrepresentation, intentional infliction of emotional distress, false advertising, and breach of written contract.

The legal complaint, obtained by The Hollywood Reporter, outlines several grievances. According to Lipeles, the show was filled with explicit content that was not disclosed beforehand, leading to his emotional distress. Clips of the shocking sexual content have been circulating across social media with many stating that it's disgustingly attention-seeking and over the top, even for Madonna.

Additionally, he contends that Madonna lip-synced through much of her performance and that the concert venue was excessively hot. Lipeles attributes the heat to Madonna allegedly ordering the air conditioning to be turned off during her performance, which he claims made him physically ill.

The pop star’s notorious tardiness also features in the complaint, with Lipeles highlighting that Madonna has often started her performances hours after the advertised time.

This is not the first time Madonna has faced legal action over her stage tardiness. The Celebration Tour, which showcases a career-spanning setlist from her 40-year career, has frequently seen advertised start times of 8:30 p.m. slip to 10:30 p.m. At a performance on December 17th, Madonna reportedly addressed the issue flippantly, telling the audience, “I am sorry I am late… no, I am not sorry, it’s who I am… I’m always late.”

In the past, Madonna has faced similar lawsuits over her punctuality. In 2019, two men filed a case against her, accusing her of “unconscionable, unfair and/or deceptive trade practices” due to her late arrival during the Madame X Tour. That lawsuit was dismissed, but it underscores a recurring issue in her live performances. Madonna’s team has previously defended her delays, citing unforeseen technical issues. However, the recurring nature of these complaints suggests growing dissatisfaction among some of her fans.

While the outcome of Lipeles' lawsuit remains to be seen, it raises important questions about the overuse of sexual content in the entertainment industry, especially as younger audiences grow increasingly tired of it.
