Martha Stewart Becomes Oldest Woman To Land SI Swimsuit Cover, But People Think She Looks Heavily "Photo Shopped"
Martha Stewart stuns in a one-piece for Sports Illustrated Swimsuit – but people think her images were heavily "photoshopped."
Martha Stewart just proved to everyone that beauty is timeless. The Emmy Award-winning 81-year-old, photographed in a gorgeous location in the Dominican Republic, stuns as a new cover model for SI Swimsuit 2023.
But the bestselling author's appearance wasn't immediately celebrated by everyone. According to some users, Stewart looked heavily photo shopped. "Anyone looks good with make up and photo shop," writes @maurico_ahued.
"As fake as any Kardashian on the cover," adds @TheBlueKingBen.
While Stewart's SI shots were likely edited, she still looks like herself, and it wasn't overdone (at least in my opinion). This untouched image from two months ago on GettyImages further proves this.
Stewart's shoot is a refreshing take in the fashion and media industry, where women are often heavily airbrushed while mature men's lines and wrinkles remain untampered. This double standard, deeply embedded in society, has negatively influenced our perception of beauty. It perpetuates the notion that men "age like fine wine" while women are expected to wither beneath the weight of time or "hit the wall." Her feminine, sultry, fun photo shoot serves as a positive message to women of all ages.
Besides the entrepreneur, 27 other models celebrate their triumph with SI Swimsuit, including Megan Fox, Kim Petras, and Brooks Nader. Each showed their beauty while dawning a 'fit matching their personality and style. "There is no theme [to this year’s issue]—rather, there is a vision, a sentiment, a hope that women can live in a world where they feel no limitations, internally or externally,” said MJ Day, editor-in-chief. “But the absence of a theme is not to say that [these women] don’t share certain common traits. They’re constantly evolving.”
