Millie Bobby Brown And Jake Bongiovi Get Married In Secret Ceremony, The Sun Reports
Millie Bobby Brown, 20, and her fiancé, Jake Bongiovi, 22, are now happily married months after the actress faced criticism for getting engaged "too young."
According to The Sun, Stranger Things' Millie Bobby Brown and her fiancé, Jake Bongiovi, secretly tied the knot last weekend.
“Millie and Jake quietly said their vows in America last weekend," the source said.
“They are planning a bigger ceremony in the US later this year, but now they have legally married and done all the paperwork. It was a very low-key, romantic affair with their closest family with them as they said their vows.”
The announcement comes one year after the couple announced they were officially engaged on April 11, 2023. "I've loved you three summers now, honey, I want 'em all 🤍," she wrote on Instagram.
Bongiovi popped the question during a romantic scuba dive, but it wasn't exactly smooth sailing. “He puts the ring on my hand and as I go to show him, the ring falls off my finger, plummets so fast, it was like a cinematic movie," Brown recalled. "Jake threw himself so deep, the diver was like, ‘You can’t do that, like your ears. Literally your brain will explode.’”
Brown explained in an older interview that she and Bongiovi had been planning their wedding together. “I have loved every second of it. It’s been an unbelievable journey," she said. "Every time we have a new wedding meeting, Jake and I take a picture to capture the moment of the planning process. He’s loving every second of it. I haven’t been met with a stressful time yet, and I think that’s a reflection on how ready and excited we are to do it.”
Unfortunately, not everyone celebrated the young couple's engagement, and many argued that Brown, then 19, was far too young to be engaged. Given what we've seen in the dating market and the rise in situationships, I think it's incredible that Bongiovi knows he wants to spend life with Brown and vice versa.
Despite the backlash, the two got married anyway, with father-in-law Bon Jovi's blessing. "I don't know if age matters, if you find the right partner and you grow together," he said in 2023.
"That would be my advice, really," he added. "Growing together is wise. I think that all of my kids have found people that they think they can grow together with, and we like them all."
