On October 7, 2023, Hamas terrorists launched a surprise attack on the Tribe of Nova trance music festival in Israel. 260 attendees have been reported dead, and others were taken hostage.

One festivalgoer named Shani Louk made headlines after videos showed her unconscious in the back of a pick-up truck with broken limbs. Hamas men paraded her through the streets as they spat on her and pulled her hair. Initially, viewers presumed she was dead – but Louk's mother, Ricarda, says her daughter is alive.

Louk is believed to have a serious head injury, and Ricarda is urging German officials to take action. “We now have further information that Shani is alive, but has a severe head injury and is in critical condition. Every minute is critical,” her mother said in a recording.

"You have to act quickly and get Shani out of the Gaza Strip!" she added. "We shouldn’t argue about questions of jurisdiction now!"

The Israeli embassy in the US says that the Israel death toll has risen to more than 1,000 in the Hamas attacks. Israel has retaliated following Hamas's attack, launching airstrikes in Gaza city. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced, "We have only started striking Hamas."

He added, "What we will do to our enemies in the coming days will reverberate with them for generations."
