Okay, It’s Seriously Getting Cold—Here Are 25 Jackets That Will Make Layering Up Way Cuter
You know the girls who wear mini skirts and open-toe heels in 35 degree weather in the dead of the winter? Just by looking at them you can tell that their insides are quite literally frozen? Well, I have a confession to make: I was one of those girls.
We swear up and down that we don’t need a jacket when we leave the house – we’re “warm blooded” and “it’s not really all that cold outside anyway.” Secretly though, we just can’t bear the thought of hiding our outfit that we so perfectly planned underneath layers of clothes. If I had a dollar for every time throughout my life that I sacrificed my warmth to serve a “look,” I swear I’d be a millionaire by now.
Thankfully though, with age comes better decision making and about 4 years ago one of my resolutions for the new year was literally to buy a winter coat. My closet was overflowing with heels, dresses, skirts, and blouses without a practical coat in sight (not a good sign for someone who’s lived on the East Coast all her life). I could tell that my fiancé was growing tired of my antics when, each date night, we would make the trip from the closest parking spot downtown to a restaurant, only for him to have to thaw out my fingers inside before I could take a sip of my cocktail. So I decided that year to get over my fear of coats (I mistakenly thought they all needed to be giant, black, boring puffers in order to be warm) and seek out something that would make me excited to layer up in the cold.
Since then, I’m happy to report that I’ve grown quite the collection of beautiful winter jackets that don’t make me flinch at the sight of them. Now when the temperatures drop below 50 in my area, I actually look forward to bundling up, and I build my outfit around the jacket, instead of the other way around. From cozy sherpa fabrics to pretty pink puffers, these coats are the look. Happy shopping!
