Paris Hilton became a household name thanks to the hit reality TV series The Simple Life – but life wasn't always fabulous for the socialite. Shortly after her show debuted, Rick Salomon released pornographic footage of him and Hilton having sex.

The revenge porn sent the media into a frenzy, and Hilton sued Salomon for defamation. She was awarded up to $400,000, which she planned to send to charity. "I never received a dime from the video," she told GQ magazine in 2006. "It's just dirty money, and [Salomon] should give it all to some charity for the sexually abused or something. To be honest, I don't even think about it anymore."

Given how the series portrayed Hilton as a sex symbol, many assumed she was the type to hit it and quit it. Yet, the socialite revealed that she actually disliked physical intimacy so much that she thought she was asexual in her early 20s. While she did become romantically involved with multiple men, Hilton says that sex scared her. I believe that this is a natural response to men we hardly know – despite what liberals have told women for decades, sex isn't just a "physical act." In the words of Lucy Hale, sex with strangers is not fun, and that's why a lot of women need alcohol to get themselves in a frisky mood. Even Hilton was under the influence of quaaludes and alcohol when she had sex with Salomon.

For Hilton, it wasn't until she finally found a man who loved her and respected her that she was able to enjoy physical intimacy. Now she can finally enjoy making love with her husband, Carter Reum. "I was known as a sex symbol, but anything sexual terrified me," the 42-year-old told Harper's Bazaar magazine. "I called myself the 'kissing bandit' because I only liked to make out. A lot of my relationships didn't work out because of that."

Hilton added, "It wasn't until Carter that I finally am not that way. I enjoy hooking up with my husband."

According to the heiress, the abuse she faced and the sex tape leak led her to feel as though she was asexual. "I just feel like, after all the hell I've been through, I'm finally getting what I deserve, which is someone I can trust and someone to build a real life with," she said.

Hilton opened up about having a family in 2021 and how much that meant to her. "So, I'm really excited to just move on for the next step of my life, and finally just have, like, a real life. Because I really do believe that having a family and having children is the meaning of life," Hilton told The Trend Reporter. "And I haven't got to experience that yet, because I didn't feel like anybody deserved that love from me, and now I finally found the person who does."
