Pink Refuses To Give Her 10-Year-Old Daughter A Phone, Hoping She Will Avoid The "Shadow Side To Technology"

It's rare to see any parents enforce strict boundaries with technology for their kids, let alone parents who are celebrities. But the singer Pink is making some clear rules with her children.

Pink and her husband Carey Hart are parents to two children: a 10-year-old daughter and 5-year-old son. They have always shared glimpses of their family life together, and in a recent interview with Today, Pink says she is choosing to keep technology away from her daughter.

Pink Isn't Giving Their Daughter a Phone

In her interview, Pink jokes with Carson Daly that she is losing her mind from all the kids' music she has to listen to every day. But even though she watches TV with her children at night sometimes, she has made the clear decision to not give her daughter a cell phone.

“There’s a light side and a shadow side to technology in general for adults, as well,” she said. “For kids, I’m not there yet. I have a 10-year-old who does not have a phone, although she pointed out to me yesterday, ‘You know most of the kids in my class, fifth grade, have a phone.’ That doesn’t move my needle. I don’t care.”

The Grammy-winning musician isn't against technology altogether, but it seems like she understands that giving her young daughter a cell phone would expose her to a lot of content she probably doesn't need to see right now. Besides, there's nothing healthy about young children using a smartphone for many hours a day at such an early age. It makes perfect sense that any parent would want to expose their children to as little technology as possible.

42-year-old Pink married Carey Hart in 2006 and her 10-year-old daughter is Willow Sage and 5-year-old is Jameson Moon. Although she loves being home with her kids and spending so much time with them since the coronavirus pandemic started, Pink admits she misses touring as well.
