Pizzagate And Wayfair 2.0?: Pizza Listings On Etsy Charging Customers Up To $30K Get Scrubbed
Are we witnessing Wayfair 2.0? People were stunned to find strange pizza listings and photos of AI children on Etsy. Here's everything we know so far.
It's been three years since the strange Wayfair trafficking allegations came to light. In 2020, a Reddit user took to the platform to post screenshots of cabinets sold by the furniture website. The storage cabinets were listed under real names like Neriah, Samiyah, Yeritza, and Alyvia, and were priced over $10,000.
The website also had pillows at similar costs, and some people believed the names belonged to missing children. Wayfair reasons that the cabinets were industrial-grade and the pillows were priced by a third party. As for the missing children, Wayfair said, "There is, of course, no truth to these claims.” Many people weren't convinced, though; one bank teller alleges that he had an experience with a woman who would wire large sums of money to the company for unknown reasons.
Now, people are speculating that Wayfair 2.0 is occurring on Etsy, a popular online marketplace, after several pizza listings were spotted for thousands of dollars. Sounds like pizzagate all over again. "Well, on Etsy now there are pictures of children with pizza (Pedo code word for little girl), and childrens overalls popping up with the SAME MO. It’s clear that this points to something VERY DARK & NEFARIOUS," wrote @TPV_John on X.
A screenshot of now-deleted listings showed "Cheese Pizza with Pepperoni" listings priced at £30,000 (about $37,649.10). A description reads, "A beautiful and steamy, delicious JPEG of a pepperoni and cheese pizza. Set to tease your taste buds craving the real thing. Made with the finest ingredients far and wide." Surely, no one is paying thousands of dollars for images of pizza.
Other screenshots depicted AI children with food, including wings and pizza. Their captions read, "Chicken File" and "Pizza File," and the items appeared to be digital products costing $4,000 each. Is it possible that pedophiles are going on Etsy to sell child sexual abuse images? Could it be worse than that?
Journalist Liz Crokin asks her followers: "IS CHILD TRAFFICKING TAKING PLACE ON ETSY?" Shortly after the pizza listings garnered attention, many products were removed. "If there is nothing nefarious going on here — why take it down?" asked Crokin.
@MJTruthUltra on X also found photos of a little girl wearing overalls being sold for $35k. "To be honest, I’m not sure what to think, and there could be an explanation for these things, but it’s very disturbing it’s almost always related to children and or Pizza and no one investigates it," he wrote. "I screen recorded it in case they take down."
Should officials investigate these seemingly insidious and expensive items on Etsy? Considering how the FBI has reported on pedophiles using code words, I certainly think so.
