When the release of the trailer was met with antisemitic remarks being made against Gal Gadot, Zegler posted a series of tweets.

She wrote, "I love you all so much! Thank you for the love and for 120m views on our trailer in just 24 hours! What a whirlwind. I am in the thick of rehearsals for Romeo + Juliet so I’m gonna get outta here. Bye for now." In her follow-up tweet, she added, "And always remember, free Palestine."

Many online commenters were horrified by Zegler's statement, interpreting it as a direct attack on Gadot, who is Israeli and has faced a wave of antisemitic backlash since voicing her support for Israel.

As of now, Gadot has not directly responded to Zegler, but she shared Martin Luther King Jr.'s famous quote about overcoming hate with love shortly after Zegler's tweets were posted.

Critics accused Zegler of trolling her co-star, with one user commenting, "Rachel Zegler is trolling her much more famous and beautiful Snow White co-star Gal Gadot. Disney continues to hire the wrong actors to represent their brand. Rather than promoting a film, they choose to embarrass themselves and the studio."

The backlash also included sharp rebukes about Zegler's professionalism, with one commenter sarcastically noting, "Wow, you’re such a ‘team player.’ Way to support your cast mate."

These reactions highlight the growing tension within the film's promotion. Zegler has already been embroiled in multiple controversies, including her dismissive comments about the 1937 original movie, in which she referred to it as "outdated" and mocked the portrayal of the prince, sparked a backlash from fans who felt she was undermining the legacy of a beloved Disney character.

These incidents have led to a growing sentiment that Zegler is not a suitable representative for the iconic role. Her perceived arrogance during interviews, where she appeared to belittle the original film and its characters, only added to the negative perception.

As Disney faces mounting criticism, the future of the film and Zegler's role within the Disney brand remain uncertain, with many questioning whether the studio's casting decisions are in line with the values they aim to promote.
